I used to eat here every week--delicious food. The owner, Joyce, recently retired after 40 years of restaurant ownership. Her son owns the Mandarin restaurant in Winooski, and where Joyce's was is now a very good Thai restaurant called Maliwan. There's cheaper Chinese food around, but you get what you pay for, and Joyce's was worth the (slightly higher) cost.

Tried to go to two similar places near by; one didn't accept AMEX the other wasn't opened yet. So happy to stumble into Joyce's! Fresh and delicious! I will keep this place on my lists of go to places when I'm back in town.

This is a nice family run restaurant by a husband and wife. The place is clean and inviting. Food is excellent and well worth the chance to eat here.

We have eaten there before the pandemic and have had takeout on numerous times and have always been happy with the experiences. There is a wide selection of dishes, the food is great as the service. My wife and I picked up a takeout last Thursday and were able to get three generous meals. Defiantly a 5 star.

Ordered general tsos and beef teriyaki. I can't put my finger on it, but the teryaki sauce isn't right, it's sour and bitter. 5 pieces of soggy general tsos. Flavor, ehh. Save your money and go to china garden for half the money, I'm pretty regretful of the 13 DOLLARS I spent here.

My son and I are in the process of visiting every Chinese restaurant in Chittenden County, VT. We always order the same thing.I order a chicken and broccoli combo with pork fried rice and an egg roll. My son orders a sesame chicken combo with pork fried rice and beef teriyaki sticks.Price: $25.56 or $.37/oz is noticeably above the average price we would find in Chittenden County.Portion: 4.3 lbs between the two meals is slightly on the lower end of the average range in this region.Pros: - High traffic convenient location near McDonald's by what used to be the Essex Outlets in Essex, VT.- Convenient high traffic location- Great curb appeal- The egg roll was tasty and had a light, crispy shell- Provided 1 duck sauce container & 2 fortune cookies- The newer microwavable containers are being usedCons:- The price is higher than average- They didn't provide soy sauce packets, napkins or utensils- In general, the food lacked flavor- The pork fried rice is visually different than anything you'll find at Chinese takeouts in this region. For me, the rice makes or breaks the meal. Visually the rice looked great. Although the rice was light & fluffy (not greasy) it was bland. We'll have to come back to try their noodles sometime.Impression: Convenient Essex location near McDonald's with great curb appeal offering an average sized portion of generally bland tasting food at a noticeably higher price, earning Joyce's a 3.0 star review.

Pricing is out rages! Customer service was insulting when inquiring about why everything was so expensive. Took customers advice! Paid 1/3 of the price from one of their competitors!

Way too expensive!!...same order at other comparable places 3 times the amount of other restaurants. When questioned was rudely told " Go find other Chinese restaurant" We did and are very happy with the new place. Total waste of money won't ever go there again.

If your vegetarian, move along. Nothing to see here. Sorry folks. This dish had steamed veggies (soggy) and “crispy noodles” that sat in bland oil. There was no flavor to this meal. I had higher hopes. Also spring rolls with frozen corn and peas drenched in oil made for something new that wasn’t innovative in a good way.
