Took the family here while in vacation. Our service was great and the place has a really cool atmosphere. The corn bread is not what you would think if you are from the south. It was more like a muffin with a fruit inside. Would not recommend.
The chicken, hand cut fries, and specials were all on point.

We had lunch there today. At our table, we had clam chowder, fish & chips, Beef on 'Wheck and the Jcat stacker. Everything was absolutely delicious and our server, Terra, was great. She was attentive, knowledgeable and polite.
If we lived here, we'd be regulars!

Went for Brunch, party of 4. I have been here for dinner but brunch did not go well. Service was really slow to the point the waitress came by to say Manager was looking into why the order is delayed. Manger never came by to check in. No offer for a dessert, drink etc. Waitress never stopped by to ask if we needed a coffee refill. I know the Tavern is popular. Maybe the day was a fluk and they were shortstaffed. I had the Eggs benedict. Served with strips of bacon instead of canadian ham. Overall not that great. Hash Browns were salty, even other guests at table mentioned the salt level.

Nice place with friendly and helpful staff, unfortunately the food just doesn't taste fresh and high quality.

Food was good (but it was cold and plates were hot aka it was sitting out for a long time), but our server was horrible. Worst service I’ve had and that’s saying a lot since I’m visiting from NYC. I don’t even know her name because she never said but she had hair dyed half red half black. We waited one HOUR for our food with toddlers that was after waiting about 20 min for our drinks. Everyone around us was served and cleared before we were served. It obviously wasn’t the kitchen because why would the other servers be so much more interactive, friendly, and have their tables taken care of on time when we were left hungry. We had to call her over to ask to order and then when our food would be ready. No apologies, didn’t ask if we were hungry (we were), just a rushed half answer. We had to call her over for the check and for picking it up because she was just never around. It took us multiple tries to call her over too. She’d rush past our table and didn’t notice us. We felt ignored, mistreated, disrespected, and incredibly disappointed. If you’re looking for a place that does NOT care about you at all, sure, go here. This dinner was for my nieces 3rd birthday. She was so excited and ended up sad and hungry for almost all of the time we were there. Please look into this. This is not acceptable.

Food was fairly bland and the server lacked seemed to be having an off night. Overall, very vanilla, nothing special.

Had high expectations but was a bit surprised and disappointed. The following things are easily fixable and I hope the kitchen sees this.
There were some very underseasoned items including the mashed potatoes, mac and cheese (went home and fixed with king arthur flour white cheddar powder), and sad brussel sprouts on the side of the sirloin. The sirloin was well seasoned.
Potato latkes were cooked well but lacked flavor - could have used much more of the sour cream and a touch more salt.
The kale/goat cheese/beets I really enjoyed but the serving dish was just a bit small for the volume, especially when trying to dig up beets/goat cheese/candied nuts from the bottom - kale kept spilling out.
Fish and chips - again the fish was underseasoned, fries and tartar sauce were good.

Brought family from out of town to dinner on Friday night - 2 weeks ago. Literally, one of the worst food experiences I’ve ever experienced. Waitress was somewhat friendly but lacked professionalism and skill. Stacking dishes at the end of our table , slamming the tray down to serve food. The clam chowder had the consistency of mashed potatoes. 3 of us ordered fish and chips , fries over cooked and soggy , fish was also overcooked and dark as
If the oil hadn’t been changed since last fall. Some of us had the beef on weck which was soggy to say the least served on a wet disintegrated roll. We had reservations and a table of 6 was jammed into a table for 4 at best. The owner came to the table to brag about the sandwiches and the history of them -
Apparently he hasn’t eaten in his own restaurant.
The evening started with a blond woman who checked us in when we first walked in -she should really find another profession other than customer service or perhaps management should observe her treatment of customers when they come in. To say she was rude would be an understatement.
The experience was embarrassing as we had mentioned that this place was good and local.
Next time I will save myself the humiliation and go to The Guild or Waterworks. If you don’t want yourself or dinner guests disappointed I suggest not taking the here.

If I were David Adinboro doing a documentry on vermonters I'd go here. Tis a fine spread of men who are remarkable woodsman and tradesman, and others who break out in hives if they have gluten. Despite their differences, the two learn to comexist and have some amazing wings.

The restaurant had a nice and relaxed atmosphere. It felt friendly and very all-American. The service was great; the staff were kind and attentive without hovering. The food was consistently good. The short ribs were rich and flavorful, the salads were fresh with the right amount of dressing and cheese, and the fries were crisp and well seasoned. Everything tasted like it was made with care and good ingredients. It’s the kind of place where you can enjoy a solid meal with friends in a comfortable setting. I’d go back.

We love JCAT and have been there many times. I had brunch there recently with some friends and was disappointed. My waiter spilled my coffee on me (and the table, the floor, my phone, my purse). He was very apologetic and I know he’ll never forget me, but I feel that we should have been compensated for our troubles. If not the whole meal, then at least mine.

We were all a little disappointed. The cornbread blueberry muffins were undercooked. The garden salad was very good but not enough dressing. Three of four of us got the clam chowder and we were hard pressed to find any clams. The scallops, 3 total with bacon, way over priced. We felt everything was over priced.

I have never had a bad meal here. It is obvious care is put into every dish. I wish I lived closer so we could go more often!
