I had the steak ($32) which I ordered rare. It came out well done. It was also quite small. Mashed potatoes were cold. Brussels sprouts were very oily. My companions both ordered the Fish and Chips ($28). They liked the fish, but neither ate the fries, because they were cold. Service was good. This place is overpriced, in my opinion.

Overall a disappointment. It's a nice place. The food was overall underwhelming for the cost. The truffle fries were over cooked and soggy, average at best. My wife has the Wedge Salad and the lettuce was waterlogged from not properly draining after rinsing it. The salad fixings and dressing amount was insufficient for the size of the lettuce and cost. I had the JCat stacker and for the cost it was only average in taste and size. Overall the value was not there. My daughter has the Classic Burger which was just average. Her Caesar sale also was underwhelming. The waiter was also slow to check in with us. Overall this restaurant looks nice from the outside and inside but there is no value in the quality of food or service. I understand in 2025 the food costs have risen a great deal but this restaurant is a pass for use going forward. Average at best.

This place was recommend to us when we visited the Town of Essex Free Public Library. We were looking for a good meal and a cold drink. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. If we're in the area again, it will be one of our stops.

Really spectacular food at this slot. You'll want to come again.

Server had a big party but she still made the opportunity to stop in and check in on us. You can go casual at the front of the house (tonight was trivial it appeared) or head to the dining room for a quaint dinner with friends.

Server staff was watching each other's backs.. you don't find that in most establishments. Kudos to the kitchen staff for getting it right and timely.

Restraunt is in a beautiful historic building , amazing food with a menu that is always adding items. Employees that have been there for years and years getting better at there craft. I can’t think of a better place to eat in the area.

My husband and I have been going there for years and have also recommended it to our friends. Tonight was totally different experience. We made reservations via the online app, as usual, for 7:30. At 8:15 our table still wasn't ready and we were told there were 2 other parties who reserved for 7:30 and were still ahead of us. We ended up leaving at 8:20. We will not recommend JCAT again.

In need of competition. Last 3 visits here will be my last 3 visits. Sadly, the food is not what it once was. Ordered chicken wings on Wednesday. They were obviously leftover from ‘wing night’ - extremely dried out and swiped with fresh sauce. On another of my 3 visits I ordered Caesar salad with chicken. Parmesan cheese was nonexistent. Finally, their staple - French fries arrived only half cooked - white, limpy and soft in the middle. Take another minute or two to send them out like they’re supposed to be. I’ll drive a little out of my way from now on. Tourists will continue to enjoy some mediocre meals, but those who know better will do better elsewhere.

Oct 12 630pm approached Jerico Cafe & Tavern and noticed cars were parked up and down the street, indicating the place must be packed and we might not find a place to park, but as we pulled in a spot opened, then we got to the door and the band was playing in The bar area, which seemed to be full, we were told a hour wait in the dining area, but there was a tall table by the door we came in so we sat down, looking at the menu , so many good choices, started with calamari with jalapeño peppers and a duck sauce marmalade, very delicious, then had a diner special, lamb stew, it arived in a single serving cast iron skillet on a plate with 2 triangular slices of lightly toasted, lightly buttered bread, the stew was very good, with about 5 medallion sized chunks of lamb ,nicely done along with diced carrots, and onions in a thick sauce that held it all together nicely, you could cut the lamb medallions into 3 to 4 pieces with a fork, grab a piece with some carrot and onion with the sauce holding it together on your fork, very delicious. Service was on time and friendly, I had a nice glass of pino nour. I will definitely go again soon

This was a very nice place to stop for my lunch today. There was a ramp for my power chair, easy access, but I ate outside on this beautiful day. I only had time for a bowl of clam chowder, but it was excellent! They have some unique menu items which I'd like to try someday. Highly recommended!

Wheelchair accessibility: There are two parking areas for those with disabilities right next to the entry ramp, but also a lower lot that has a ramp up to the top. Plenty of parking. The doors were easy to open. Wait staff was very helpful. The restroom was a bit small for my power chair, but I managed to park it and hobble in. The owners have done a good job with being accommodating.

Awful breakfast. Second time there and nothing is ever cooked. Tastes like dog food and thrown on a plate so it doesn’t even look appealing. So disgusting.

If the weather is nice, I highly recommend sitting on the covered side porch. The beef bourguignon was quite good. The quinoa salad had way too much quinoa and not enough veggies.

Wheelchair accessibility: Entry ramp to the front door. Parking at grade with the beginning of the ramp.
