If I could give more than 5 stars I would! My wife and I spent 9 days in Vermont and we would try and pick the nicest restaurant in the town we were staying. Of all the restaurants we went to, my wife and I agree that The Silver Fork was the best! Appetizers, entree and desserts all were elevated above the other places. The restaurant is in a beautiful old library, renovated for the restaurant but still maintaining the charm of the vintage building.

Sat at the bar for a delicious meal, and really good cocktails and mocktails. The steak tartar had a great flavor, but my preference has been chopped vs ground finely. The Lobster risotto and Wienerschnitzel we're both great. The unsung hero of my dish was warm potato salad with sauerkraut

Fantastic experience from beginning to end. The food (patatas bravas, schnitzel, mofongo) was all great, with generous portions. The service was prompt, knowledgeable, and really friendly. And the space is spectacular - a mid-century library converted into a super-chic 1960s hang-out. The drinks are also great, but be careful, they pour generously!

Silver Fork - Vermont ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This was truly one of the best meals of my life. The chef has an incredible gift for flavor - every dish felt perfectly balanced yet completely elevated. The atmosphere was so relaxed and welcoming, making the whole experience feel unrushed and special.

We started with the tuna carpaccio, which was hands-down my favorite part of the evening. The flavors were unreal - bright, fresh, and so perfectly composed that I know I’ll be thinking about that dish for the rest of my life. My husband had the lamb meatballs, which he described as “fabulous” - tender, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned.

For mains, I chose the Creole Shrimp Mofongo, and my husband had the crab cake (basically pure crab) with shoestring fries. The presentation was stunning, but what really stood out was how fun and exciting each bite was - truly a joy to eat.

We ended with passion fruit sorbet served atop a large circular ice cube with fruit compote — such a creative and refreshing finish. Again, the flavors were just unreal.

The service was amazing - attentive without being intrusive. The chef’s wife, who I assume is an integral part of this wonderful restaurant, came by our table twice, adding such a personal and genuine touch to the evening. The hospitality here is truly unmatched.

Thank you for making our one night in Vermont so memorable. Your restaurant added to our newlywed bliss. I cannot wait to come back.

Had an amazing experience - absolutely beautiful space with giant windows framing the mountains, warm and personable service from everyone, and stunning food. Calling it fusion does not do it justice, just spectacular flavors start to finish. Bread pudding for dessert was a star. Must visit if you are in the area

This restaurant is phenomenal -- in my top 3 of favorite places I've ever eaten. The food & atmosphere are magical (a converted library??? c'mon). If you're anywhere near Manchester & looking for a splurge on a nice dinner, this is the place.

One of the coolest restaurants I've been to in awhile. Such a great atmosphere for dinner. The service was great, especially Camille the bartender.

I got the short rib with spatzle and was a little underwhelmed. The short rib was a bit dry and flavorless. Luckily the horseradish cream helped it.

The bread pudding was the bomb though! Definitely get this.

Silver Fork – Manchester’s Culinary Crown Jewel

If you’re anywhere near Manchester, Vermont, dining at Silver Fork is an absolute must. I had the pleasure of visiting with eight of my golf buddies, and it turned out to be one of the best dining experiences we’ve had — hands down. From the moment we arrived, the warmth and professionalism of the staff stood out. They gave us a beautiful round table tucked into a private cove within the restaurant — intimate, elegant, and perfect for a lively group.

The setting is as special as the food. Silver Fork is housed in the historic Mark Skinner Library, a beautifully restored Carnegie Library building dating back to 1897. Its grand yet cozy design, high ceilings, and rich wood interiors create an atmosphere that’s both refined and inviting. What really adds to the charm is the rotating gallery of local Vermont artists’ work lining the walls — and yes, the art is for sale, which makes the experience feel deeply personal and rooted in the community.

At the heart of it all are Chef Mark French and Melody French, a dynamic husband-and-wife team. Mark, a classically trained chef with decades of global culinary experience, brings incredible precision and flair to every dish. Melody, who runs the front of house, brings a warmth and attention to detail that elevates the service to a whole other level. Together, they’ve created something truly special — not just a meal, but a full sensory experience.

Our server was phenomenal — knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely enthusiastic about the menu and wine. Speaking of which, we ordered three bottles of the 2017 Susana Esteban “Procura,” a rich Portuguese red that wowed the entire table. Easily one of the best wines we’ve had in years — deep, bold, and perfectly suited to the meal.

We started with an incredible spread of small plates:
• Tuna Carpaccio — bright, delicate, and layered with olive oil, capers, and fresh herbs.
• Goat Cheese Soufflé with fig jam — warm, tangy, and utterly addictive.
• Chicharron de Pollo — crispy and bursting with citrus and garlic.
• Duck Eggrolls — savory and satisfying with a standout spicy peanut dipping sauce.
• Steak Tartare with quail egg — executed flawlessly.

For mains, we tried:
• Creole Shrimp Mofongo — a standout with bold Caribbean flavors and perfect texture.
• Plantain-Crusted Mahi Mahi — vibrant and fresh with a creative twist.
• Lobster Risotto with Prosciutto & Asparagus — rich and luxurious.
• Woodlawn Farmstead Brisket with Spätzle & Horseradish Cream — an absolute masterpiece.

Everything was flawless — the service, the wine, the food, the ambiance. Silver Fork is upscale but never pretentious. It’s the kind of place where the history of the building, the passion of the chefs, and the soul of Vermont all come together. We felt like honored guests in someone’s lovingly curated home.

We’ll be talking about this meal for a long time — and planning our return. Bravo to Chef Mark, Melody, and the entire Silver Fork team. You’ve set a new standard.
