First time visit and very impressed! This is a cozy, new, college-town restaurant that surprises both with its sophistication and quality. My wife had a delicious ricotta gnocchi dish while I had a classic Duck confit. Both came with crispy, fresh market vegetables (e.g. parsnips, sweet potato puree, pickled onions) with accompanying flavorful sauces which defy our ability to define. Nonetheless, all was delicious, and topped off with excellent wines as well as scrumptious desserts. We rate this the best restaurant in Middlebury!

First visit. Excellent food for all four of us (Gnocchi, Duck , Shrimp Coconut Curry, Beef Bulgogi stir fry). Service was equally impressive. We'll be back.

Four of us had dinner last night and the food and service were outstanding. It was probably one of the best meals we’ve ever had and I’m soooo happy it is in Middlebury. I had the curried shrimp with coconut sauce, the shrimp were cooked to perfection and the sauce a little sweet and slight heat. Another person had the special which was a duck breast said it was the best he ever had and nothing was left in his dish. Desserts divine just a great evening. Thank you we will be back.

Crooked Ladle has become mine and my boyfriend’s favorite spot, and only after two visits. Last summer we’d walk by and I was always in awe of the plants, but never took a chance and walked inside. We don’t typically go out to eat, we both love to cook and can guarantee our meals are filling. Keeping the aforementioned in mind; each time the service, drinks and meals were exceptional and we did not go home hungry! You get a full plate of food and for a reasonable cost. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Good first experience. Our food came out super fast, probably due to some clever menu planning and their food truck roots. Everything was nicely plated and tasted great. House made sangria was good and a decent beer selection was nice ($8 athletic NA IPA seemed a little steep).
Our server was friendly but not very good. Our water glasses were empty most of the meal, my soda water was never refilled, and some plates from dinner were on the table through dessert. My wife finally moved them to the end and asked her to take them, which almost seemed to offend her.
We’ll definitely go back. Hopefully we get a different server next time. The bar looked great but we didn’t order cocktails.

For my money, best restaurant in Middlebury. Reservation is probably a good idea on weekends.

Stumbled upon Crooked Ladle because of Google Maps, their rating, the location, and we happened to be walking by just as they opened. What a find! The food was phenomenal, service was excellent and we’re looking forward to visiting over the next 4 years as our son attends college.
