We were turned away at the door at 2pm for lunch, when the sign right behind the person said open for lunch until 2:30pm. 🙄

Had dinner there last night for the first time, it was delicious! The yellow chicken curry (asked for not spicy) had a little kick but tasted great and made for excellent leftovers for lunch. My friends had the spicy fried rice, chicken and broccoli with peanut sauce, and the strawberry lemonade. We were all very happy with our dinner and fantastic service!

Asked a local for a recommendation for dinner one night, and without hesitation, Sabai was named. Got the chicken pad thai, even though I am hesitant to order it at Thai restaurants because it's often too sweet for me. Since they were out of the edamame appetizer (& I was craving veggies), the server suggested adding a few extra veggies to the dish. The result was a flavorful (& not too sweet), veggie-rich meal which I heartily enjoyed (& ate every bit). It was quiet when I went, and I sat at a window seat with plenty to watch as I dined. The atmosphere was quiet, relaxed, and friendly, and I thanked my friend for the suggestion. I will be sure to re-visit when I'm back in town again. A great addition to Middlebury!

I ordered spicy fried rice. You’d expect that to have some spice right? WRONG. Most bland unseasoned Thai food I’ve ever had. Im not joking when i say there was zero spice. It wasn’t even as if it just wasn’t spicy enough, it literally had no spice. Not even a spec of black pepper. Just tasted like rice chicken and coconut.

The tom kha seemed like it was missing an ingredient too

A wide array of delicious, authentic Thai dishes. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and said almost any dish can be made vegan. Menu also offers vegan sushi and ramen options.

Sabai Sabai has an adorable vibe, kind staff, and exceptional food. We mentioned we were vegan to the waiter, and he instantly knew how to accommodate us and explained that nearly all of the dishes can be veganized. I ordered the vegetable hand roll and the tofu poke bowl, and they were both incredible! I can see why there’s a wall devoted to thank you notes they’ve received from regulars and people just passing through for a delicious meal. Thank you, Sabai Sabai, for your plentiful and wonderful vegan options 🎉 Updated from previous review on 2025-05-26

Love that there’s good Thai food in Middlebury. Ordered shrimp tempura and spicy crab hand rolls, shrimp fresh rolls, chicken satay, pineapple fried rice, and massaman curry. The only dish I can’t recommend is the chicken satay—it’s just not enough chicken—everything else was great.

Cute place, good food. We love the sticky rice with mango!

The only Thai food in Middlebury. The menu has other type of food besides Thai food, such as sushi. We walked in without a reservation, only bar seating left. So for Friday or weekend dinner here, it is better to make a reservation or come early.
Food wise, I chose level 4 spiciness (out of 5) for the Tom Yum soup. It was very spicy! The Pad Ew was a bit sweet. The chicken in the curry chicken dish was quite dry. Not the best Thai food I have eaten. But for a small town like here, it's eatable.
Since it was a busy Friday, the food came a bit slow. But our server Khaim was very friendly, courteous and welcoming.

This was a lovely place with good food. They accomidated our large group and always kept watch on the water. I ordered a California Poke Bowl, which had very fresh ingredients and a lovely spicy mayo sauce. My friend loved the mango sticky rice. Very nice staff(thank you Ashley!!) Would definitely recommend!
