This place is a bar and event location. Very nice physical plant. Don’t go there for a meal. Has some snacks on menu but cannot recommend them except as a bite with your drinks. Apparently has celebrated gin but I’m not reviewing that here.

Great drinks and nibbles, albeit quite pricey. Excellent atmosphere/vibe. Really friendly and competent and quick professional staff.

Bar Hill is the best! First and foremost cocktails dank. Every single one, 0 misses. Secondly it was my girlfriend’s birthday. The host there very lovely women helped me by setting up our table with flowers that I brought in before hand. Everyone was invested and kind. Great staff definitely a homie vibe. 10/10

My son and I recently took a road trip from Boston to Barr Hill/Caledonia Spirits in Montpelier as a slightly belated birthday present for him. The cocktail bar wasn't taking reservations because there was a private event scheduled, but Patrick (Barr Hill hospitality) recommended that we arrive a bit earlier so we could be accommodated. The whole experience was excellent! Many thanks to Patrick, to Dylan and the bar staff for the delicious cocktails (Peepin' Ain't Easy, Penicillin, and Ermagourd pictured) and food (pumpkin hummus with pita), and the retail staff (apologies for not getting your name, Cool Dude with the Nice Glasses and Gauges) for their patience. As always, Barr Hill's gin never disappoints, and I highly recommend their line of rye whiskey. Thanks again!

I'm not a vodka or gin kinda guy, but i have to say that their offerings are pretty amazing. This is definately a Must Stop if you want to sample the taste of Vermont distillation at its best.

Definitely worth the stop if you're someone who enjoys spirits and cocktails! We were hoping to have a few of the delicious sounding snacks from their food menu in addition to a tasting and some cocktails, but unfortunately we found when we arrived that only the retail section of the distillery was open. The employee (I wish I would have gotten her name!) was incredibly gracious when she learned we were on a road trip and pointed us in the direction of the restrooms and a seating area with an invitation to stay and relax for as long as we wished.

It turned out that one of their whiskies here was one that my husband had previously tasted somewhere else and was so impressed by it then he wrote a note in his phone to pursue purchasing it at a later time, so it was rather serendipitous that we stopped here!

I am absolutely not a gin fan and regularly ask that vodka be subbed for gin in cocktails, but the gin they make here turned out to be one of only two gins I've ever been amenable to in all of our years of distillery tours (I won't say how many years that is, but it's a lot!) This one has a bit of a smoother, sweeter profile to it instead of the usual suspect of pine tree that I decry and it was a pleasant surprise. I also enjoyed the vodka which I expect to be excellent as a stand alone martini with a citrus twist. Unfortunately we did not stay for cocktails as we had promised the kids food at this stop so we needed to find somewhere else to eat, but we did leave with several bottles to enjoy at home. My husband had a difficult time deciding on just one whiskey to purchase, so I'm sure we will be back at a later date in the future for him to buy the ones he didn't buy this first time around.

Our visit to Barr Hill turned out to be an unexpected highlight of our recent visit to Vermont. I had discovered Barr Hill at a village store in Danville, a gift box of gin. I love gin and I love local craft so I picked it up to try. I hadn't even tried the gin yet but thought a tour would be fun. We ended up being the only 2 visitors for our tour and were given royal treatment. Our guide, Roger, was thoroughly knowledgeable and entertaining, sparing no detail which I loved. I enjoy factory tours and this was probably the best experience I've had on one, book ended by fabulous food and drinks in a beautiful setting. All the staff clearly take pride in their work and company and are exceptionally warm, friendly and inviting. The spirits produced in this facility are exceptional with amazing and unique flavor profiles. The process is sustainable and respectful to the local farmer suppliers and environment. Excellent products you can feel good about enjoying.

After being in Hartford for a football game I made a special one day trip to Montpelier to visit this distillery after falling in love with their gin earlier this year. I had a great afternoon visiting with the employees and sampling great cocktails! For anyone who loves great spirits and cocktails and is visiting Montpelier, a trip to Barr Hill is a must! Cheers to Olivia, Kursten and Katie(pardon any misspellings!) for being friendly, congenial and hospitable hosts! Thank you ladies!

Probably the best cocktail I've ever had, The Long Goodbye. It's a beautiful place, a really cool story and mission, and great cocktails.

Went there for a company event and the mule and the old fashioned were very good drinks. I bought the customary hoodie and beanie that I get every time I come up here.
