Great food nice renovation, friendly service. Can’t beat it if you’re in the area.!
A modern bright decor , a friendly
Staff and very quick service. Convenient location in the centre of town.
Adequate for a traveling dinner.
We frequented this place but as many others have noted the decline has been very rapid and is now not worth it at any price. Service was horrible. Food mediocre at best. There are very few good places to eat in Montpelier so losing this one is a night out killer.
Used to love this place, but it’s gone downhill. Desserts were overpriced and disappointing—no garnish, no homemade whipped cream, just bland and lazy. New management clearly doesn’t care about quality.
The food and quality of the service here is the best I experienced in a recent trip to Vermont. Definitely recommend the brussel sprouts for dinner as they are wonderful! The breakfast is equally wonderful! I definitely intend to go here whenever I am back in Montpelier in the future!
Went for Mother’s Day brunch… food was mediocre… service was awful… had reservations and noted this to host upon arriving… he went to get table prepared… came back about 4 minutes later askingif we were there for brunch…. Hello????? Got seared, No waitress came over to take drink orders, just told by host to go up to buffet…had to go to the bar and ask for drinks…. Water, coffee, mimosa ( which was flat and plain). Ate, and host came back to ask if anything else needed… asked for another coffee… he came back with bill and thanked us for coming in….. this place had gone steeply downhill since Morgan’s days… food, service, atmosphere… will not be returning
We had a large group reservation. The space planned for us remained occupied by other celebrants after our reservation time. However, management found another place and provided us an excellent server. The food was great! I'm a fan!
First visit since they opened again after the flood. I have travelled the country as a connoisseur of steak, and the 55 day dry aged ribeye was absolutely amazing! In the top 3 steaks I have had in my life, and better than the $250 wagyu ribeye at Emeril’s steakhouse in Vegas. Thick, perfectly cooked medium rare, a simple yet robust flavor profile of butter, salt, and aged beef. The tuna tartare appetizer was phenomenal. The Chicken and waffles with spicy bacon was out of this world. It’s good to know that J Morgan’s is worth every substantial penny
First time back after the renovations. I like how bright it is now. Parking was easy in the garden parking lot and was validated. My ravioli was really good and others loved their salads.

Employee named Emma sends personal messages beyond hateful. I wouldn’t trust her to serve food.
First time dining there since changing owners. Atmosphere is now generic hotel feeling. Bloody Mary was basic. Had the eggs benedict, meh. Not enough hollandaise, hash potatoes were overdone. All in all, underwhelmed. Definitely NOT the J. Morgan's of old.

Two stars because this place takes a ridiculously long time to 1. Get a table. 2. Get drinks, 3. Get food. It’s pretty expensive for the quality of service. Mediocre at best. I would in every case choose something else.
