Great prices for a steakhouse. They do validate parking. I got my Cowboy Burger cooked medium and it was just about perfect. Kids meals are served in a frisbee that the kids can keep. I highly recommend it if you are in Montpelier.

What a wonderful steakhouse! We found this little gem while shopping. We wanted something more than the usual informal drab eateries that crowd the downtown streets. It was like stepping on to J P Morgan's personal train. Elegant but not pretentious. Our server was relaxed and very welcoming. He guided us through the steak menu in the most professional manner. The porterhouse was cooked perfectly. Unlike many servers, he explained the service charge without pushing us to extra tip. The service charge would be distributed equally to staff. This is our favorite restaurant whenever we come through town.

Great people and service. The chef is very creative and the food is perfectly prepared. Very warm atmosphere with socialization going on. Very fairly priced, especially based on the quality of the food and service.

The food was outstanding! It's a nice and quiet environment, upscale and was the perfect 5 year anniversary celebratory dinner. We each had a beverage and enjoyed the loaded potato chips for an appetizer. I had the bacon wrapped filet mignon and my husband had the shrimp scampi. For dessert we shared a creme brulee. However, our waitress did not fit the restaurant. I'm not sure if she was new but honestly she was less than good. She was very quiet and we could hardly hear her. It took us 20 minutes after being seated for her to come over and take our drink order. She never once asked if my steak was cooked to my liking, nor did she ask how our meal was. The food was outstanding and definitely not part of the problem. She then somehow trips over her own feet and almost spills my husband dinner in his lap, moving the table and spilling some water in the process. Again, not a problem accidents happen but that was the only time she smiled at us. Again the food was absolutely delicious, I also don't mind paying the added in gratuity, but I think 20% was a bit much for the service she hardly provided. I understand waitresses make their my money by tips, but you also have to earn that tip. Maybe waitressing isn't her calling but for the moment she's at her job it is and she should be providing top notch service for a meal as expensive and elegant as J Morgan's provides. I come from a family of restaurants, and we would have tipped her more if she had given more than the bare minimum service I would expect from McDonald's. With that being said, we would absolutely be back for another celebratory dinner, however We'll be requesting a different waitress. For a meal that costs 80$ a person I expected better service.

I ordered the Montreal ribeye and my friend ordered the regular ribeye. Both of then were very thin, probably around 1/2" thick. I asked for medium rare and my steak was so over cooked that the waiter said something before I even could. It was well done, without question. The waiter was decent and offered a new steak to me, which I denied because I knew it would have been another 20-30 min wait, and ended up getting us one free desert. I'm not high maintenence by any stretch, and never send food back, but for a place that advertises as a premier steakhouse and our steaks costing $39, I was very disappointed in J Morgans.

Pretty pricey for the quality, lame we got nailed with parking fees as well.**Despite what he owner said below, parking is not free you get a few moments to run to your car and if you stop and talk with your friends or go to the bathroom the validation expires and you are charged, I got validated and it charged me.**I think they have potential but I wasn't very happy this evening.Parking: The parking is lame avoid the lot, they validate but only give you a few minutes to leave or they hit you for $5

We have visited J Morgan's two times! Both times the food and service were amazing! I Highly recommend giving them a try! It's a little on the pricey side but well worth it!

Excellent. Elegant but relaxed atmosphere. Great service, great food, decent prices, towards the expensive side but not ridiculously expensive.Parking: Parking is past the entrance to the restaurant, in a paid lot, but the restaurant will void the ticket and will make it free.

Best steak that I have had in a long time. Server was pleasant and attentive. Small establishment with no sound abatement. Noise was distracting. Reasonable price for top quality meal.

Had filet minion. It was so small in 4 bites it was finished My wife had the cod. It was so sour. Obviously it was not fresh. We sent it back untouched . We were charged for it and we had to complain to the manager. Maybe a 2/10

The food was great other than a big piece of gristle in my husbands wagu steak. The drinks were yummy and the server was very helpful knowledgeable and gave us great service. I was not happy about the 20% mandatory tip that was spilt with all the waiters and waitresses. I would rather just give a bigger tip of the service and food deserves it and that waiter or waitress gets it.

Food was top notch. Should have requested a booth, as the high top we were sat at was really small. Service was ok, not a dig on the server, though. I think the auto gratuity makes the staff a bit more complacent.

Just had a delicious anniversary dinner/last date night before our baby arrives.Beautiful restaurant with an upscale vibe, sublet but tasteful decor.. Our server (Liv or Lin)(I'm bad with names) was awesome. Attentive & made sure we had everything we needed! We had the garlic bread & crispy chicken for apps, both yum! For entrées my boyfriend had the VT maple ginger salmon and I had the filet mignon & added the buttered lobster... both were amazing!!! My man raved about his salmon and my entrées was exactly what I have been craving, cooked to perfection. We ordered the strawberry cake togo, and though I haven't dug into it yet, if it tastes as good as it looks, I know I'm going to be happy!! (Really, hard to get such a pretty presentation in a togo container, but they did it!)Long story short, we had a fabulous meal & experience & are happy we chose here to celebrate this evening...we will definitely be back.Parking: Parking is in a ticketed lot in the back, bring your ticket in the restaurant & put it in your checkbook when you pay your bill, and they'll validate the ticket for you!
