Atmosphere, food, and staff are all fabulous. This has become our top choice of where to meet up with friends or celebrate events such as our anniversary. Recently, when a storm was raging, we got a call rescheduling our reservation because, "we won't risk our staffs' lives." This may be one of the reasons that this restaurant is a favorite, that people are prioritized is felt in all they do and serve. We are looking forward to many more memorable evenings enjoying their amazing meals.

Made a reservation in advance and was looking forward to a special night out, celebrating a birthday. The service and appetizers were good. Our main entrees were very disappointing. The chef was a bit overzealous with the seasoning, especially salt. Due to a large party that night, our meals were delayed and once received one entree was ice cold. We were given the dessert menu, but we decided to go somewhere else for our sweet treat. I highly doubt we will be back…it wasn’t worth $250 dollars. Two thumbs down.

It was our first time at Oakes and Evelyn, and we were excited to try something new for a special dinner out. While the food was fantastic, we were a little disappointed in the experience. We each had a bao bun (I the mushroom, my husband the pork belly), and they were absolutely delicious! Highly recommend them. For our entrees, we had the NY strip and the bolognese. My pasta was very good, but my husband's food was barely warm by the time it got to our table. And that was our biggest issue - service was incredibly slow. That's not something we'd normally complain about; we weren't in a rush and they were obviously training new staff. But it seemed like we were being ignored. There was a certain customer who must have been some sort of VIP, because that table was obviously being favored at the expense of the rest of the customers. Our waitress spent a lot of her time chatting him up (as did the restaurant owner, very loudly I might add), showing him multiple bottles of wine and laughing at his jokes while I had to wait 15+ minutes for a simple beverage refill. Eventually the host finished taking care of our table because our waitress was so absent. The atmosphere was cozy, perhaps overly so. We had a relatively early reservation, and while we were seated right up against the back wall next to the bathroom, we did have ample room away from other guests. By the end of our meal though (1.5 hours later), the restaurant was packed full and there was very little room between ourselves and our neighbors. They were so close, we felt that we had to awkwardly make small conversation with them and acknowledge their presence to avoid being rude. They also commented on the close quarters as they were being seated. All that being said, we'll likely be back, as we're assuming this was just an off night for them. We believe in second chances, and they're definitely worth giving another try.

Awesome meal. Attentive service. Great drinks. Terrific desserts. What more could you ask for. We split the rib eye steak. Tender, great sides. Small, intimate atmosphere, try it!

This was our first time here and we’d recommend it! The menu had a good amount of variety and the wait staff was very friendly. We ordered oysters but they had already run out by the time we sat down (~6pm). They did offer a half order (3) of what was left. Oysters were great but would’ve liked to have had a dozen more ? the yellowfin tartare app was also wicked good. For mains, we did the octopus tacos and scallops. Tacos were really good. Scallops were a bit overcooked but the dish had good flavor. We did the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, which was good. Not the best I’ve ever had but decent.Small things: the table was wobbly and we were sat closest to the bathroom, which wasn’t ideal (but we also hadn’t made a reservation so… probably our fault).Got

Wonderful food, such warm, genuine & welcoming staff - this is the perfection in a restaurant. We had the yuzu cream pie to finish, and my regret was I had to share this with my husband, it was sublime. Everything we ate was delicious. We shall be back. When in Vermont, do yourself a favor, book a table, arrive hungry & leave wondering why more restaurants can’t be as fabulous as Oakes & Evelyn.Tune crudo excellent, tartare was bliss, and the pork bao buns, were amazing.

Best meal in town and for miles. The wine selection is terrific as are the mixed drinks. The service is impeccable: Personable, attentive, efficient, timely. The low lights are great for talking endlessly setting the mood for conversation over food and drink. Justin is fantastic. What I can appreciate is that they're consistently adventurous and bold and they can do it exquisitely. We prefer when establishments do not play it safe and go outside the box -- O&E can do that and they do. Execution is on point always. They were currently hit hard in the flood of July 2023 in Montpelier Vermont. Help them out at their gofundme: gofundme.com/f/oakes-eve… -- they are well worth it!

Amazing food. One of the best meals I've had out in a long time. The beef tartar, coconut shrimp bao bun, and branzino were all excellent. Can't wait to go back!

A million times yes! Food and service were amazing. Absolutely coming back. We got 4 different drinks, the scallop crudo, the hamachi, the seared scallops and pork belly, the wagyu, and all three of the desserts... I honestly haven't had such an impressively perfect meal in a long time. Highly recommend.

The overall thought of the place is nice, however the host does not know how to host accordingly with the company accepting reservations and having limited outdoor seating anyone waiting in line should always be asked if they have a reservation before anyone who doesn’t have one is sat. Like what took place last night had a reservation at 7:30 was there at 7:25, two parties that did not have reservations were sat In front of us. Definitely ruined my boyfriends birthday dinner. Food was not good either except the dessert, wouldn’t go back seeing as we ended up not being sat until 8:30 with a 7:30 reservation.Parking: On street parking only
