We stopped by Ondis for an early dinner during our road trip. The servers greeted us with warmth and very welcoming attitude. The food was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! I had shrimp ceviche tacos and my mom had the Halibut. Rich flavor profile, great taste and fantastic combination of freshness!
We usually don't get dessert after dinner, but we wanted to make an exception and give the dessert a try since we enjoyed the food so much. Definitely a great decision we made! I had homemade pistachio ice cream and mom had vanilla. We LOVED it!
I would love to see if I could get that ice cream in our cities too!!! Can you franchise that pleaseeee? :)
Montpelier is not a common route for us, but I will make sure to come back to Ondis to have more of that taste!

I’ve dined here 3 or 4 times over the past year, and it’s hands down the best restaurant in Montpelier—possibly one of the best in Vermont. The food is fresh, creative, and consistently delicious, clearly made by people who care about their work and what they are putting out. The wine list is small but thoughtful, with a well-curated selection of moderately priced natural wines from across Europe that punches well above its weight. Each time I’ve gone, the menu has always been completely different. It’s great to have a spot in Montpelier that offers this level of variety and quality. Highly recommended for a date or special night out.

Fantastic food where there isn't a bite that doesn't create memories. Incredible food was only amplified and enhanced by the stunning service. Highly recommend

Ondis is small and intimate, nestled among a residential area well outside downtown Montpelier. The plates are also small and intimate, though creative and flavorful. Highlights were the shaved avocado salad which was bursting with the flavors of spring, and the prime rib seared to perfection hiding under light, whipped potatoes and on top of an amazing sort of demi glace sauce.

I will say not every dish hit, and the drinks were decent + creative but didn't blow me away (Rye milk punch pictured). The spring gnocchi was visually stunning but a bit flat in flavor, and a *lot* of the dishes use some form of foam, cream, puree, or whipped mousse - my partner found this texture unappealing at times without something solid to ground it.

That said, the service was super attentive and jovial, and the ice cream here is incredible (get a pint of vanilla to go!).

One of the best meals we've had, full stop. Gnocchi and mushroom mousse were incomparable. The short ribs were merely excellent. And the desserts were the kinds of tastes you hope you find, but never do. Smoothest ice cream I've ever had. (TBH, didn't even know I cared! Apparently, I do.) I had some sort of gelato or something on the side of my dessert, and it was the best thing I have tasted in five years. Etc.

Honestly one of the best meals I have had in the state. The polenta mushroom dish was exceptional. And service was genuinely friendly, attentive and knowledgeable. Perfect! I’ll be back

What.a find! Delcious food, excellent, sincerely friendly service, cozy atmosphere. Cold and weary,we walked in after a four-hour drive from Boston and were greeted like old friends. Our brocolini with parmesan was crunchy and creamy while our pork tenderloin was of the highest caliber and perfectly cooked. The piece de resistance was a dessert of freshly baked donuts atop a bed of ricotta, dotted with cubes of spicy stewed apple. My husband was embarrassed by my scraping spoon. We can’t wait to go back!

Genuine and attentive service in a cozy little dining room. The dishes are all made to be shareable and each one was an experience all on its own. We played “safe” with our choices since it was our first visit but each dish far exceeded all expectations. We can’t wait to go back and try something new!
