Camping locally so like to try new, nearby places. Got there around 4 on Friday (Memorial Day weekend) and was surprised to see plenty of open seats. We were welcomed at the door with big smiles and a positive vibe. Our servers were awesome, answered questions about the beer options and continued to be great the whole time we were there. Most beers are German varieties; lagers, ambers, hefeweizens. They do have other options, but you won't find a lot of DIPAs or super hoppy beers. We loved our 4 choices, one being an import from Belgium that my wife was bummed that she couldn't take a 4 pack home. For food we got the pulled pork sandwich and the Maple Hot Butter Chicken sandwich. Both were amazing with the pork having a great smoked flavor without being overpowering and the Chicken was sweet and hot with a slow burn that caught up to me after a few bites. It tasted delicious and the heat stayed with me for a little while. They both came with hand cut potato wedges and we would DEFINITELY get them both again. Great place you can tell is a 'locals' hangout and we can see why.
I recently stopped in with a friend—she ordered the beef burger, and I went with the chicken burger. While the presentation was visually appealing, the taste unfortunately didn’t live up to the look. My friend found her burger pretty underwhelming, and mine was more crispy batter than actual chicken. At first, the maple glaze added a nice touch, but it quickly became overwhelmingly sweet. By the end, I was peeling off the batter and left most of the bun untouched—it felt like eating maple-covered fried coating with very little chicken to balance it out. There were no traditional toppings like lettuce or tomato, just a few thin cucumber slices.
That said, the potato wedges were fantastic—crispy, flavorful, and easily the highlight of the meal. I’d gladly come back just for those. I also tried a local beer, which wasn’t to my taste, but thankfully Hill Farmstead was on the menu and never disappoints.
The atmosphere inside was nice, with friendly service and live music adding a pleasant vibe. I had been here once before during the summer and much preferred the outdoor seating. Overall, while the food didn’t quite hit the mark for me, the service and setting made it a decent experience.
This place is great! The food and beer was delicious! There is also an awesome bike path along side of the brewery. They also have a large outdoor seating area that is covered and dog friendly!
Love this spot!!! Delicious beer and they are incredibly friendly and welcoming (especially for our pup!). Could not recommend more
Great restaurant/Brewery. Had the pork tacos and chicken strips with a Lost Nation Rustic beer. Delicious! Great place and good prices.
We got the lost nation burger and the fried fish sandwich. Both were ok but nothing special and it was slightly worrying that the bun was toasted and cold.
First time there. Awesome place! Indoors is very cozy and friendly. It was too cold for outside but that looks like a fun time. Their beer is excellent and easy to drink. We had the PEI mussels and the pork belly. Outstanding! Took a four pack home. We will be back.
Friendly bartender served me a killer burger and a delicious beer
Awesome beer & good food! friendly service, we were received with a smile. The vibe is laid back, feels like we’re sitting in a barn. Recommended stop if on a road trip.
Great food menu, fun space and a nice variety of brews. Very friendly staff. Outdoor seating is plentiful.

Food was solid, chicken sandwich was tasty. Only had 3 of their beers on tap
This used to be one of our favorite places to grab a bite and beer. Burger used to be phenomenal! Nothing short of disappointment with the food, cleanliness of the outdoor seating area and self service atmosphere on our recent experience. The bartender was very nice, but that’s about all I can say was positive about the experience. Hopefully they can bring this back to what it used to be.
Stopped in based on a recommendation from a local innkeeper. Food was fantastic, decent range of beers and a great local cider. Prices were quite reasonable.
Disappointment - this is the only emotion I have after a visit on 08/24/2024. Loved this place in all of my previous visits, with the last one being in fall of 2023. Regarded this place as a gem along the bike trail. This time, though, this was a sad experience.
The beer - yes you will have good cold beer. The choices are there, but rather cut back.
The food - don't go there for food, this is not what it used to be. Menu is limited to mostly fried food, even though it looks big on paper. For years had a note that I had my best burger in VT at this place, this is no longer the case. My burger was sloppy, the 'secret souse" was soggying he bun, doing not much for the flavor. The onions were everywhere but in the burger. The home fries that came with were still tough (undercooked?) on the inside.
The service - what service? They have done away with servers. Now you bus your own table; you order and pick up from the same counter where you are making payments, your grab your own condiments, silverware, etc.; and you are still coerced into tipping with those screens they flip to you to sign off. On top of that the person at a counter was rather not friendly, maybe they had a bad day.
Atmosphere - they gave up. That's what it felt like. They tried to make a place to be something good and welcoming but they dropped their hands and gave up. The bike racks on the trail side are gone. Either lay you bike or tie it to the tree, or drag it up the stairs to the main parking lot. A small bike rack is there. There is no more inside sitting. The place was dusty, tables and benches were sticky. The bathrooms were filthy.
Hugely disappointed.
If you are desperate then this place will feed you and you will have some decent beer, probably. Otherwise, go somewhere else.
If there is only one place you would like to have decent local beer and American food in Stowe area, this is the place. One hundred percent!
