Five stars all around! Best dining experience in the region. Bit of a hassle getting in, Resy's platform stinks - but worth it! 30 day advanced notice required.

As passionate foodies, my wife and I have had the privilege of exploring the culinary scenes of cities like Boston, New York, Miami, LA, and San Francisco—all renowned for their exceptional restaurants. Having relocated to Vermont, we can confidently say that The Backroom holds its own among the best.
The Food:
The Backroom offers a prix-fixe tasting menu that delivers both quantity and quality, satisfying even the heartiest appetites. Every dish—from appetizers to main courses to dessert—was thoughtfully crafted and utterly spectacular. Over the course of the evening, we enjoyed approximately 10 dishes, each one a delightful testament to the chefs’ skill and creativity.
The Experience:
The Backroom is more than a meal—it’s an intimate and social event. The cozy setting features just two communal 10-person tables, creating a unique opportunity to connect with fellow diners. Sharing the experience with strangers added a fun and refreshing dimension to the evening, as we left not only with full stomachs but with new friends.
The Service:
The owners, Kevin and Katie Lasko, along with their attentive staff, provide impeccable service that reflects genuine care and passion for what they do. Their personal touch elevates the experience, making every guest feel valued. If Michelin were ever to venture into this corner of Vermont, The Backroom would undoubtedly earn a star.
A Word of Caution:
The Backroom’s exclusivity is part of its charm but also its challenge. Reservations are essential, often requiring at least 30 days of advance planning. The restaurant operates only two nights a week and is open seasonally during the winter, as the owners focus on their successful catering business the rest of the year.
Final Thoughts:
The Backroom is not just a restaurant; it’s a must-have dining experience and our first standout discovery in Vermont. We’re already looking forward to our next visit. If you’re lucky enough to snag a reservation, prepare for an unforgettable evening!

Probably one of the best dining experiences we have had in Vermont. Very difficult to get a spot. But everything made you feel like you were a special guest.

Fabulous food in an intimate, cozy setting with very friendly and accommodating service. It felt like sitting down to a big family dinner, if my family happened to include an amazing chef.

Can't say enough. The staff happily greets you with welcoming smiles. The chef prepares appetizers while you watch and enjoy a glass of champagne, all the while chatting with the other guests. My wife has a vegetarian diet, and he addressed her needs wonderfully. The main course was amazing. I had to loosen my belt to make room for dessert. Can't wait to return.
