SKIP IT OR MAKE A RESERVATION. According to the server “we’re a small operation and once we get to a certain number of people we don’t take anyone else”. No mention of this on the website. We heard it was great food so we drove 2 hours to get here. I mentioned that to the server and they were still not interested in helping us. Just got to Maliwan in Essex Junction, VT instead, it has great service and one of the best Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to. DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME COMING HERE.

Fully enjoyed our lunch at SAAP, brought back many memories from our 3 1/2 years living in Thailand.

Atmosphere reminded us of the many family Thai Restaurants found in Northern Thailand.

The restaurant does have a small staff or at least when we were there. All great to chat with but it’s a relaxed environment so don’t come here for a rushed meal, come to enjoy the food.

Reservations are needed for weekends and in general so they can plan accordingly. Open for lunch and dinner but does close from 2-4:30.

Now for the food. It was very good- we had the spring rolls, chicken wings, Khao Soi Chicken, and Pad Kra Pao… flavors were very authentic.

Considering this is in the middle of Vermont and getting authentic thai is definitely a delight.

We love Saap, though it’s an hour drive and we can’t get there frequently. We always order the 5 level of spice and they deliver! ?. But that much spice may not be to everyone’s taste, so just order something between zero and 5…. They always ask what spice level you would like.

The food here was very good. It’s a good place to meet in Randolph for lunch, especially if you are coming from different parts of the state. Clearly marked vegan options.

We looked forward to our first Saap experience and traveled over an hour for our reservation. Like many of the other reviews left, the service was not good. After asking if we could order anything to-go in addition to our lunch order, there was an explanation of why we can’t which completely made sense- what didn’t make sense was him following up with accusing us of attempting to scam the restaurant by ordering a third item for our table of two. His accusations based on assumption were incredibly off-putting. “Do you see what you’re doing here? Ive seen this before- you order more food, don’t eat it and take it to go”. He also included, “I’m on their side, not yours.” What? We’re all on Saap’s side by choosing to take our business there with enthusiasm. But the server crushed the experience and our appetite.

The food was good. The flavor is solid.

The issue is the service and atmosphere. Our waiter seemed disinterested and acted as if taking our order and bring our food was a personal inconvenience for him. It made the whole meal a little uncomfortable. I don't expect to be treated like royalty while eating out but I do prefer that I not be treated as a nuisance.

Casual and relaxed atmosphere. Friendly owners with engrossing back stories. Delightful and well flavored entrees and appetizers. I got the number 2 on the heat scale. Plenty enough heat without searing my throat, tongue or nose to the point of losing out on the flavor blend of my Tum Yum Gai soup.

Absolutely amazing food, great service, atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming.

Coupl'a things I'd like to perhaps shed some light on after seeing the negative reviews on here:
1. You need reservations. If you don't have a reservation, there is a solid chance you will be turned away. This is a small restaurant in a small town in a small state. In order to deliver an exceptional level of quality, they need to know how many people they'll be feeding.
2. The food is absolutely bangin. Period, full stop. If you think otherwise, you need to realign your tastebuds, but you're also in luck because there is a McDonald's you can hit before you get back on the highway.
3. While I can't dispute anyone's complaints regarding service, since I wasn't there, I would like to point out that this is small-town Vermont, dudes. Don't expect a cadre of college kids eagerly waiting to fill your water glass after each sip.

A few more notes for good measure:
- Chef is respectful on spice (I mean, this is a state where banana peppers are too hot for 90% of the population, so ya kinda gotta be), but seriously my father (an old white dude who feels no shame sending things back to the kitchen because they're a tad too hot) specified minimal spice to our server and I didn't hear a single complaint for the whole meal.
- This restaurant is a blessing on a hill in Randolph, and as far this humble reviewer is concerned, they have every right to the level of service they see fit. Should they insist I bus my own table and pour my own water, I would still consider it a privilege to have my pious mouth shined upon by their culinary countenance. But seriously, if you're gonna gripe about the furnishings or the fact the server isn't faking a smile for you, you should probably work on being a little less grumpy.
