Yes the service could improve, but this is also excellent Thai food. You taste the broth and you’re like wow that’s so good. Is there better in NYC or places like that? Yes, but probably the best Thai food in the state. A few good vegan options but not too many.

They should just remove the takeout option completely. For multiple nights in a row now, we’ve called for takeout, at the suggested time by the owner, who said we’d “stand a good chance” - only to be turned away because of a “full dining room.” Nothing screams “we offered takeout because of COVID” more. Just stop offering it. And stop giving people lip service over the phone just to keep them interested.

It seems almost impossible to order food from this restaurant as a local who lives close by. The food is delicious but you never know if or when you can order. I got there right when they opened to hopefully put in a small to-go order, no one else was there, and they ended up saying they can’t do to-go orders today. I guess the only way to eat here now is to have a reservation, just overall disappointed.

Traveling a bit for a meal out can often keep us home but knowing that Saap had received the James Beard award enticed us to give this restaurant in Randolph another try. We made a date with 2 other couples and were flexible when they changed our reservation the day before from 6:45 to 7:15. Mistake number 1. Fumbling around with our phones to get the drink menu seemed a waste of time when the options were very limited although the website says cocktails were available. After our drinks arrived we asked if we could put in an appetizer order while we looked at the menu. Our waitress responded that she wanted to put our whole order in at once as the kitchen was closing. What? We barely had arrived. Mistake number 2. I wish we had been able to read between the lines and chosen to leave and find another restaurant in town where we would have been made to feel welcome and deserving of a relaxed meal. Instead we were rushed at every opportunity. Plates were cleared before we were all finished, we were asked if we'd like to order dessert before our meal was finished, and then before the dessert was eaten our bill was delivered being told that they were closing. Additionally, they started cleaning the floors even before our dessert arrived where we had to inhale the strong cleaner while trying to enjoy our meal and conversation. It was beyond rude, beyond our comprehension that on a Friday night we were being pushed out as unwelcome intruders instead of valued guests. Mistake number 3. One member of our group shared our disappointment with a staff member and was told that "they had a long day and they were ready to close." We stood in the parking lot at 8:30pm dumfounded at the whole experience. Yes, the food may be good (although my husband chicken was dry), but one would think that a James Beard award includes the whole dining experience and I highly doubt that whomever was the judge wasn't sitting at their table while toxic cleaning solution wafted through the air as they ate their meal and a check handed to them before they finished theirdessert let alone being brave enough to ask for tea or coffee.

Well-had quite the experience for dinner there Friday nite. Not Pleasant! They asked us to change arrival time from 6:45 to 7:15- no problem. We all got there on time and there were 3 other tables dining. Our waitress was very nice - food was good but that's where the experience turned unpleasant. in essence they gave us the bums rush to get out of there.Wanting to clear our food before we were done-pushing dessert on us as we were still eating main course. As were starting the desert they were washing the floor in front of us with a mop, bucket and a fowl smelling cleaner-while we were eating !!! It was now 8:30-we were there a total of 75 minutes-pushing the 6 of us out the door. And owner was simply rude ! Really unpleasant experience-do not recommend - my opinion- RUDE !

I really wanted to like this restaurant after reading all the positive reviews and seeing that they received the prestigious James Beard award! I love Thai food! & have spent time in Thailand. & I've had many great Thai food experiences in the US! Unfortunately, I was very, very disappointed with Saap. We had reservations and were promptly sat. The restaurant ambiance was nothing special, typical Thai restaurant decor. 20 long minutes later my order was taken. Only 1 server- the owner. He was polite. Food came out in a timely manner, but it was bad. Everything was very sweet and didn't taste right. I couldn't finish. I'm glad other people are enjoying their meals here... but I will not return.

Just had lunch there. #19 is the best fried chicken I've ever had in my life. And the ginger sauce was also the best I've ever had. It was magical. It's an honor to be served here. I can't believe you can get food like this in Randolph. Thank you for the great

As an award winning restaurant, Saap definitely lived up to its expectations. While the portions were on the smaller side, every dish we got was flavorful, tasted homemade and authentic, and more unique when compared to other typical Thai restaurants. The wings were especially delicious and the pad thai was also yummy. Service was friendly and reasonably fast / attentive. Would recommend making a reservation in advance.

I’ve had SAAP a handful of times now and I can say it’s one of the best restaurants in the area. The food is incredible just as long as you don’t get it to go. The atmosphere is very unique and has a inviting feeling the second you walk through the door, definitely a must stop for anyone passing through.

Amazing food, worth the drive from anywhere you are in Vermont. Spring rolls and fried rice are to die for.

Service is slow and lacking in follow through. Food is good but nothing to write home about sadly, especially since they got a James Beard award.

Had been waiting for the right opportunity to visit Saap and did so this week. I was disappointed on many levels. There was a floater in the draft beer. The bartender was wearing dirty jeans. I witnessed him grabbing a dirty bar rag to clean a table, and then put it down and not wash his hands before carting glasses by the rim to a table of two. Moments after I pulled a long black hair that had been fried into the chicken dish that I had ordered. The rice was the only part of the meal that was somewhat enjoyable. However, the hair, and the dirt put me off and I left 3/4 of the dish on the bar. My guest took the remainder of his dish and tossed it in the trash at the gas station at the bottom of the hill when we stopped for ginger ale. I'm still wondering why I left a 15% tip. Had the bartender/server who I think might be part owner had come to ask how everything was I would have pointed to the hair. I dine out quite often as I am in the industry, and this was the worst dining experience I've had in my 38 years living in VT!

It's very hit or miss. Food tends to be excellent, but the service and attitude can be atrocious. I've lived in area since 2022. When we first would go, I had no complaints. Service was sparse, but it was post-covid and staff was tough to find. Since, it's gotten much worse. My last two experiences, I never even got food. Imperious attitude and no desire to serve.Stopped in tonight as a single aiming to sit at bar, read, and have good food. First this was OK, then it wasn't, and I was told no service at bar and no walk-ins. The restaurant was half empty at 6 and no one was at bar. The food is good to great-IF you can get it, but it's not worth the attitude. I notice lots of reviews in this vein, often with comment from owner that they will improve. I've not found this to be the case. Shame too, Randolph area needs all the good food we can get.

Highly recommend this restaurant for special occasions or a nice date. The food was very flavorful, menu had a lot of options. Portions are smaller when compared to American food but definitely enough for a filling meal. Was only sad I missed out on the whole fried red snapper special. Will be back soon!
