I had the rueben and french fries and it was super yummy!
This place literally makes THE perfect egg sandwich. It's like as if they read my mind on how I EXACTLY want my breakfast sammy; crispy bacon, fried (but not overdone) egg, and a hearty, melty, slice of cheddar between a perfectly grilled English muffin. I'll remember this sandwich for the the rest of my life...đđ€€

What a wonderful diner! Visiting the area from Jacksonville, FL. Highly recommend the maple milkshake. The staff were so friendly and we really enjoyed the home town feel! I had the delicious steak and cheese sandwich with fresh cut French fries and my husband had the Reuben, SO GOOD! Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!
Cute place on Main Street. Food was delicious! We stopped on our way south from Canada to fuel up for the remaining hours of our trip. We had the Ruben, burger, chicken tenders and chicken salad. Highly recommend! Staff was nice and welcoming.

Hyper local down to earth place ... real maple.syrup great egg breakie and.decent coffee. Enjoyed sitting at the counter watching the food making show. About the best meal of our trip!
Amazing experience at this cafe after leaving Anthony's Diner disappointed(no breakfast), serving breakfast all day is what I was looking for, awesome food love the maple nut bread with my eggs thanks so much for a better experience! Alot better prices! đ
Decided to take one of my best friends to St. Johnsbury for his birthday weekend-he showed me the town online and told me about Dog Mountain, so, of course I booked a 5 day trip to the historic VT town! Well, we both love breakfast. I always felt I could eat breakfast any time for any reason so whenever I go anywhere, my first search is âwhere to eat breakfast near meâ. We tried another place the first dayâŠbut the second day we went to The Kitchen Counter. It was the best decision for breakfast and the first morning was all I needed to know that this little cafe would steal my pancake, egg and bacon filled heart! I ordered the eggs Benedict with tomato and spinach (I try the Eggs Benny at every breakfast place) and I was not disappointed. Coffee is self serve and free pours. If you sit on the stools at the counter, the servers and chefs are right in front of you serving and making your food while conversation fills the room. The busier it seems, the better this well-oiled machine runs. I decided I would return for the remainder of our trip.
The second day, I couldnât decide if I wanted blueberry pancakes or the biscuits & gravy with eggs, so I got both and our hostess was full of smiles and a bubbly personality. I havenât tasted a more satisfying sausage gravy than when I made it myself at home with my grandmothers recipe. It turns out Crystal, the chef, makes this homemade sausage gravy in-house and special for SundaysâŠI am SOOOO glad I got the opportunity to experience it! I would give The Kitchen Counter Cafe a 10 out of 5 if I could and I encourage you to walk in with a hungry belly because you are bound to be satisfied! They do have vegan and gluten free options.

This sleepy small town breakfast and lunch treasure is a true gem. The people and the food will bring you back again and again wanting more.
