Koto Japanese Restaurant

The reason I give this place a one star review is because after my and my party ate our food and the chef cleaned the grill and walked away maggots stated to fall from the vent above the grill in front of our table.i showed them to the staff and took pictures. The manger didn’t charge us for the meal but I’ve been sick for the last two days . I’ve been here before and enjoyed it but after this experience I won’t be going back or eating rice ever again.

My husband and I had such a great time at Koto. The food was delicious, everything tasted fresh, and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.

A special shoutout to our waitress, Agatha. She was genuinely kind, attentive, and always had a smile on her face. She made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down and checked on us just enough without ever being intrusive. Great service like that really makes a difference.

We’ll definitely be coming back. Highly recommend this place if you’re looking for great food and friendly people who actually seem to enjoy what they do. A rare combination these days, which feels almost suspicious, but in the best possible way.

They're hirabachi is amazing and great show.

Good sushi and sashimi. Definitely will return. Servers are super helpful. Bathrooms are very clean -cool design.

I've been ordering rolls and sashimi from Kotos for years. The food has been pretty good but the price keeps rising. This pickup we are finally done. My wife's Gyoza was cold. Not room temperature but cold. The rainbow roll was made with snapper instead of yellow tail. If they want to charge me $$$ then at least deliver what I order but it has been declining the last couple years.

It's a Vermont A, but probably a B+ compared to a big costal city place. I only had the sushi, bc that is what I was craving. It's better than most I've had in VT. The have 3 sushi chefs working and they doo a good volume. The fish, except for the octopus, rated fresh and was tender. The octopus had been frozen, but I am 200 miles from an ocean. I would come back to have the Rainbow roll. The fish on that was as soft as butter. The sushi bar is not really the place to sit because they run the bussing right by it, but the place is not designed to be a sushi bar. There is only one place that is as good, but they don't get the volume so I worry about their freshness. Bottom line is I would and will come back. Next time I might even try the hibachi.

Cooked food was excellent. Fish was fresh on both sushi and rolls.

CAUTION they charge for every refill of Soda 3.25$ each Food was good for the most part. Rice was little overcooked and bland. service was good though

Love it!! The Hibachi Style Dinner is amazing!! I highly recommend you to go there. I love the show they put on and yes they do toss vegetable in your mouth but if you dont want to, then simply say no thank you! I just went for my birthday, i was so nervous because my mother that was with me. She has allergies to shellfish, and I told the host, and they actually ended up making it perfect. No complications, they handle allergies. You name it, it was perfect. I can ask for anything more!!

Be sure to check your bank account before leaving here. Koto Japanese restaurant tried to rob me and then was rude and walked off. The only nice person was the woman at the front desk.

They charged me 14$ for vegtables , that says enough. Got 2 meals and cost me $80, ridiculous

I was helping a friend relocate from Minnesota (where I live) to Colchester, VT...and we arrived on my 64th birthday (March 13, 2026). This was my choice for a birthday meal. The restaurant was beautifully and simply decorated. The food was delicious, and the service was excellent. But nothing for my birthday was offered....
