What a terrific evening! Decided to head over to the Islands this evening for a wonderful meal at the Blue Paddle. Mandy and Chef Phoebe made our weekend! Delicious short ribs and risotto for Jack, delectable salmon Caesar for me! Molten chocolate lava cake for Jack, raspberry drop for me---perfect ending to our meal. Hope to return soon, and earlier next time, so as to lengthen the enjoyment of great food and warm, caring service with a smile! We were in town for the eclipse and had the great good fortune to find the Blue Paddle moments from our campground. We had dinner on Friday night and it was so amazing we returned for brunch on Sunday. The Friday night PEI mussels were out of this world and absolutely the best mussels I have EVER had - including many enjoyed over the years on PEI. Chef Phoebe's presentation is the key and is not to be missed if you are fortunate enough to dine at the Blue Paddle on Friday or Saturday night. Lobster Benedict was equally amazing with a very generous amount of lobster and very tasty hollandaise for the win at our table for Sunday brunch. The vibe of this restaurant feels very much like home and the places of my youth in New Hope PA with a lot of fun and incredible art including some very cool 3D creations. From the moment we walked in the door we were made to feel very welcome by everyone. As UVM is in our travel plans for the next few years we will certainly be back as often as possible and will include the Blue Paddle as a destination regularly. Thank you for the hospitality, great food and lovely vibe. I am so glad that we found the Blue Paddle!

Always great experience at Blue Paddle. We had a reservation for 7 and larger party before went over there reservation time by nearly 45mins. Owner and server were great and helped make everything right and went out of their way to make our dinner experience delightful. Surf and Turf beef tenderloin with lobster was delicious & perfectly cooked. The desert was great both the molten chocolate cake and caramel cheese cake were perfect.
We came from out of state visiting our friends, who brought us to the Blue Paddle. The restaurant looked like a large estate house with a lot of memories... I'd say this restaurant would be great for a quiet, romantic evening. I apologize for those two couples seated in the same room we were because we definitely broke the silence.The food was amazingly good, including one comment of 'best I've ever had'. I'd love to come back as a couple to enjoy the food again and 'feel' the vibes from that building.
I had a bad experience the last few times but had a gift certificate so I decided to give it another chance. Ordered a medium rare steak and had to send it back not once but twice because it was purple and undercooked. There were 3 of us and all of our filets were purple and undercooked. Mine was the only one that was still purple the second time coming back to us so I sat and watched as everyone ate their food and I waited for mine to come back, again. Service was slow but everyone was super nice so nothing against them in that regard. We spent $110 on filets alone for all of them to come out severely undercooked was really disappointing.They didn’t offer any concession for the poor food considering at one point no one was able to eat. Even at Texas Roadhouse, the chef has come out to apologize or offer an appetizer.

Sat next to a broken window covered in plastic, “medium” burger was extra rare (blood on plate and bun). Wife’s medium rare steak was well done (no pink at all). And top it off, when I politely told the owner that I placed a wrapped up and bagged a dirty diaper in the bathroom trash can she asked “why would you do that” sighed, rolled her eyes, and walked away. This place was really good a couple years ago. Now… would not recommend.Kid-friendliness: Not kid friendly, plan to carry out dirty diapers, only kids options are noodles covered in butter and grilled cheese

Such a cute place, and the food was great! The restaurant is quite small, perhaps 10 tables and all and we did not have a reservation. They squeezed us in a head of a reservation. And I’m so glad they did while we were there the entire restaurant filled with patrons, and the folks waiting on our table also showed up the food was amazing. We had filet mignon and salmon with asiago risotto deLish!! the wait staff was quite pleasant, and we had a wonderful time. It was a great find.

Wonderful dining experience all around! A very local vibe restaurant with an excellent menu. Cute and cozy atmosphere. We had the duck breast, crab cakes and short ribs -- all delicious! Very attentive and kind owner and staff. We really felt like locals for the night being taken care of as if old friends.Will be back next time we're in the area. Thank you for a great evening!

Blue Paddle Bistro is what a restaurant should be- outstanding food. The inside is cute but it is not what matters- the food served at Blue Paddle Bistro is what makes people interested in going out for dinner- The old fashion cocktail was perfect. After spending a great deal of time in Maine- lobster rolls are never comparable anywhere else- my lobster roll could have been from Maine. It was unbelievably great. My husbands ribeye was perfectly cooked and delicious. Save room for dessert if you love carrot cake- it is literally the icing on the cake.

Mandy, the owner is warm, funny, and friendly making you feel right at home. Cocktails were perfectly made- The lobster roll was overflowing with lobster meat and one of the best I have ever had. The ribeye was a special and absolutely delicious- perfectly cooked and juicy. The dessert menu offers a carrot cake that is so good- order a couple of extra pieces to take home. What a find- if you are in South Hero- make reservations- It will make your visit there unforgettable.

I had an amazingly loaded lobster roll. Easily double the amount of meat for the cost & what you would normally receive at a restaurant. My friend had shrimp scampi that was perfection as well. Pesto aoli with french fries was yummy as well as duck spring rolls! Thoughtful presentation. I greatly appreciate that The Blue Paddle has such a friendly yet classy atmosphere with carefully prepared dishes, while also being relaxed & welcoming to me in my casual attire. Make reservations in advance & you won't be disappointed with this unique Bistro experience. (Being a dog lover is a plus!)
