We come to Vermont seasonally and always dine at Blackrock. We were here for 10 days and dined there 5 times because they are great on all foods on there broad menu. Their steak, fish and Italian meals are all fantastic and very affordable.
We were looking for a great place to eat South of Woodstock VT, We found Black Rock. I made reservations for 4 through OpenTable. We arrived early, after shopping, and were both starving. The first thing we noticed was that from what I heard and the menu, that the place was very homey and Vermontish, not what we pictured in our minds. We were thinking classy top dressed up people, and we were glad that it wasn't. It was very comfortable and "pubish" which we were very happy with. We were seated by the bartender, and given menus that "light up" which for someone with reading glasses like me, was greatly appreciated! Our wonderful waitress, Natalie, appeared with the drink menu and took out drink orders, and within a few minutes we were toasting my wife's birthday. We ordered, Strip Steak for me and Fresh Ahi tuna for my wife, and we chose cooked on the rock. Our apps came, which were delicious, French Onion Soup for me and Stuffed Mushroom caps with a delicious cream sauce. Our entree's came out and we looked at each other and said "What do we do now"! Natalie explained that we cook our food how we want it done on the rock. She recommended cutting the steak up in strips and cooking each strip the way I wanted it. My wife "seared" her tuna to perfection and we both had the best dinner we have had in a while! I had rice pilaf and butternut squash for sides. This was one of the best steaks that I have ever had and the cooking rock thing was really neat. I had put on the reservation that this was my wife's birthday, and I wanted to know if they could do a cake with a candle for her. Natalie asked me, on the side, what I wanted, and I said Chocolate cake, which is her favorite! After we were finished, they came to the table with a huge piece of cake, with a candle, and sang Happy Birthday to my wife! We had an amazing experience and will be back in the future!
We have never had a bad meal while eating here. Food is great, drinks are good and consistent and the staff are all so pleasant and attentive
Blackstone had been on my to do list for at least 2 years, it's an hour away from where I live, but I now know that its well worth the drive. The menu is extensive, the food quality is amazing the food value (price for what you get) is outstanding! We started with both the ahi tuna and the calamari appetizers. We didn't need our entre after those. 90 of our very delicious entres came home with us. Our server was wonderful, largely leaving us alone till magically appearing when we needed her. We will be back
Black Rock is one of those places that the locals love and you can tell when you see the excellent interaction with the wait staff. I found the drinks to be a bit weaker than ideal but very delicious. Our bacon wrapped scallops where way overcooked, the tell tail sign was the extra crispy bacon. The tri plate, chicken shrimp and steak, was outstanding especially the steak which was cooked perfectly.

This is one of my favorites, their salad bar used to be outta this world but when covid hit they did away with it. They're food, drinks and everything in-between is great. Super happy to have them here! Added bonus, on Wednesdays from like 1p- 5p or something like that, they've got a food truck and you can buy the food they sell at the restaurant, uncooked, at a great price. What's not to love about em.

Wasnât too happy. The woman on the phone told me it would be 15 minutes on the phone. I ended up waiting almost 45 minutes for my takeout order. They forgot the bread with the order and they didnât cut the chicken up with the knife so it was this big piece of chicken in the middle of my fettuccine alfredo. I wouldâve liked to have been offered something at the bar as well. They also charged me a tax for takeout, which is new for me and I didnât appreciate it. Unfortunately I would not recommend this place and I will not be eating there again.

We were visiting VT from Boston and were very pleased with the food and specials that were offered. Our waitress was awesome, I can't remember her name but she was great. We were also very intrigued with the âblack rockâ for cooking the steaks. We will definitely go back if we ever return to the area. Thank you.

Excellent place for takeout as well as dining inside. I've never been disappointed with either the food or service. I see a couple of bad reviews. All I can say is if that's their experience, it's the definite exception and not the rule. Yes, it is a bit pricey for the area. It's also worth it!

Loved it here! People who don't drink, ask for a fruit punch! They'll surprise you!
The rolls weren't like the regular rolls it was bread and kinda cold and dry Some off the food was on the cool side The onion strips were greasy this time But the rest of food was delicious
Our waitress was awesome! Very personable and professional. It was cold at the booth we were seated at. Food came out a little fast but that was okay. Onion soup is my favorite and it did not disappoint.
A hot mess of a night. Bad service, bad food took forever, left hungry. Go somewhere else
