So wish I lived closer to this restaurant because I'd come again in a heartbeat. Came with a party of 14 and we were blown away with every dish and drink. My friend and I ordered the Maple Glazed NY Strip Steak (they didn't have the Flank Steak that night so they subbed it with a NY Strip) and the Jamaican Jerked Pork Shoulder to share. I'm still thinking about those 2 dishes even now that it's been a couple days since having it. For the Pork Shoulder, the meat was insanely tender and I absolutely loved the creamy polenta bed and the contrasting slightly sour cabbage. For the steak, the wine glaze + chimichurri were the perfect pairings for the meat. The glaze was slightly sweet and complemented the savoriness of the chimichurri. Really enjoyed the scallion potato cake and brussel sprouts that soaked up the glaze too. I ordered the Snow Day drink and that was well done too, not too sweet. Overall amazing amazing meal and stellar service as well!

I was very disappointed in my evening at The Copper Fox. I made reservations on a Wednesday for the following Friday night. 6:00 pm not available so I booked a 5:00 pm. table. The restaurant opens at 5 pm and when I walked in at 5:02, there was only one table being used ( a 4/top being used by two people in the main room of the restaurant). I was shown to a small 24” bistro table in the front window (fishbowl). hardly enough room for a dinner for two. I asked for a table in the main restaurant and was shown to a 4 top directly next to the hostess station which was annoying during our dinner. I was dining with a dear friend who had recently gone through a death in her family and we were looking forward to a quiet dinner to talk. John, our server, was awesome and the best thing about our experience. The food was okay, there was nothing special about the piece of baked cod fish for $37. We were having our after dinner coffees at 7:00 when a server (not our waiter) came over to our table with our bill. We were not asked if we needed anything else or was the meal to our liking. Not more than 5 minutes later, John, our waiter, came to our table with our bill. He looked a bit surprised and embarrassed that we had already been presented our bill. He asked if everything was okay and he thanked us for our courtesy. I excused myself from the table to use the facilities, and while away from the table, the hostess approached our table and asked my friend if we could leave soon as people were waiting for our table. We had finished our coffees, we paid our bill and I left a 30% tip because of John’s service. I have never been asked to leave a restaurant because I had stayed at a table for longer than 2 hours. Nowhere did I read there was a two hour limit nor was I told of a two hour limit. My reservation was at 5 , we sat at our table at 5:10 and it was 7:10 when we were asked to ‘hurry up’. After dropping $160 for dinner plus 30% tip, I thought the hostess was rude and unprofessional. The hostess knew we had paid our bill and she should have noticed that our coffees were finished. I lived in New York City for 20 years and I had never felt so insulted at any restaurant there , no matter its cost. Except for John our server, the dinner left my guest and I very disappointed. I will never go back.

I have been to many restaurants and this place is special. From the ambiance, the vibe, fun staff and HARDWORKING, they don't stop moving! The chefs and kitchen staff take very special care of every plate. The menu is constantly changing and we come back every time we're up in Vermont and when we move here we will be here weekly! Great food!!! Thanks Elise and Nick!

We absolutely love this place! Small town, good people running a farm to table restaurant, sourcing from local farms. They have hit the nail on the head. Everything is made from scratch so be prepared to enjoy your time with friends and family. Located outside of the busy ski towns but a diamond in the rough! Don't miss this spot.

WAITER SPILT ON US AND DID NOT APOLOGIZE** After a day of skiing, we came to this restaurant to enjoy some good food and time with friends. But we were very disappointed with the service of this place. We were seated quickly, but after that everything went downhill. The service is extremely slow and the staff was not very tentative. We had to flag down our waiter to put in our order for drinks our order for food and for dessert. We were a smaller table of five people, so this was surprising to us. One of the waiter spilt a whole glass of Coca-Cola on one of us, and did not apologize or say anything about what happened. We had to ask for extra napkins to clean up the mess ourselves. We saw this was extremely weird and rude, but we continued on with our meal in hopes for an apology at the least, and maybe a compensated drink. When we asked for the check, they did not mention the spill and nothing was compensated on our bill. We were actually charged an extra Coca-Cola. Even though the food was really good, I would not come back here just because of the service it took us three hours to eat just because of how slow it was and obviously the servers were not apologetic.

The staff is phenomenally friendly! Great service, great conversations with the local staff! They had an issue with our reservation, but really made up for it! The set up is gorgeous. It's so cute and inviting with local Vermont art! The food is amazing. I will admit my party of 6 was very hungry LOL but we really enjoyed everything we ate!! But a pretty long wait... so beware!

Ho, ho, ho! The food is delicious and savory! Dont be fooled by the out-of-towners false reviews and claims! Anyone under 5 stars is guaranteed a sad lonely soul. My heart goes out to them! Remember what they say "Going to the copper fox is delicious and savory!"-Clara Smith (Banjo Skibidi)Kid-friendliness: Very kid welcoming!

Dinner with a group of 8 was fabulous. Insanely noisy interior, they need to add tapestry hangings, ceiling adornments to lower the noise ( we were there on a Saturday, busy night) Food is worth it though. Bring ear plugs!

The copper fox is one of the best restaurants in Southern Vermont. It's a hidden gem in Springfield, and an anchor to the main street of an old New England mill town. The food is always delicious and savory. The food and drink menu is always evolving with the seasons, and depends heavily on locally sourced ingredients. Chef Nick and his lovely wife Elise are always present in the restaurant, either behind the stove or bar, or greeting customers at the door. All of the staff, from the dishwashers to the servers, are friendly, hard working and take pride in what they do. The servers and bartenders always help each other at busy times and cover each other's tables to ensure a diner's pleasant experience. Some other reviewers have complained about not being seated at exactly their reservation time, and that there were kids in the restaurant. Imagine that!, greasy, grimy, noisy little children in a casual restaurant! Don't punish a good restaurant with a poor review because there were children present. It's a fact that Vermont restaurants get busy in the winter season, especially the holiday weekends. At any decent restaurant, things may take a little longer, sometimes you may even have to share the focus and attention of the staff with some of the other patrons. People who are already dining, may be enjoying themselves and take longer to finish their meal, which pushes reservations back. The copper fox is a special restaurant, where you will be treated like family. The food and drink is reasonably priced considering the portions, quality and service. I highly recommend it!

We had a reservation for 730 and weren’t seated until 8. We then waited over an hour for our food, which was extremely average. Overall, pretty non memorable experience.

Every time we're in town we make a stop at The Copper Fox. Quality food and service every time. They really have a very talented kitchen staff. The food is always impressive. Their cocktail menu is really well thought out and the drinks deliver. Our most recent visit I had the soup of the day, a tomato parsnip- it was exactly what I wanted on a sold snowy day. I also had the cod, which was perfectly cooked. Definitely our favorite restaurant in the area!
