Came here with my husband for Christmas dinner. This place is TERRIBLE. The wait was very long and the staff were incredibly slow and RUDE. We waited half an hour before we got our first glass of water. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. Save your money and order a pizza.

Since it's Thanksgiving, should I be understanding or should I expect what I am paying in advance (non-refundable) for according to the website? I decided to get out of Boston for Thanksgiving and took a ride to Stowe VT. In my search of the area I found Green Mountain Inn, seemed accommodating, from good restaurants, a little of everything and in the middle of everything. Apparently, Whip isn't serving a full menu and the staff of the Inn was very unwelcoming and not very friendly. I probably should be understanding since it is Thanksgiving day but like I said in the beginning I payed in advance (non-refundable) based upon what I saw on the website and I didn't get everything fully offered. I couldn't even order dinner from the main dining room and eat in my room. I certainly know how I felt being there and would rather have asked for a refund, get back in my car and drive home than staying there the 1 night.

Really cute hotel located in the center of everything. Shops meant as well as plenty of restaurants within walking distance. They also have a restaurant on site that was pretty good. The rooms were cute and clean and they serviced our room quickly whenever we needed it. We also got to hear about the story of Boots! Ask about it!

From the mountain we walked in till the moment we checked out this inn provided a sterling experience. My granddaughter and I were spending a few days and it was over her birthday. The staff went out of their way to make her feel special, right down to a slice of cake in our room and a birthday card. The room was charming. The cleanliness exceptional and the location perfect. Parking is a breeze. Every staff member goes out of their way to help answer a question or just greet you with a smile.

Well, the Green mtn Inn, still has its charm and and the classic New England vibe. The grounds are immaculately taken care of. The food at the whip is always top notch. Cust service at the Hotel was always spot on, not this time , Check inn was simple. That's where things took a wrong turn, Getting the take out seemed hit or miss at the Whip though. Some staff should be retrained in the art of customer service skills. Our hostess at the whip certainly did not attend the class of customer service, she seemed to be having a bad day, that was evident on the night we arrived. We normally order take out the first night and eat back in our room. That did not happen this time at the Whip. We were greeted with a sigh, and no familiar "welcome". We placed our order and we told 45 minutes, no big deal. Wrong, we came back about an hr and still had to wait for our order. Only to be greeted like we were an inconvenience. We canceled our order and went and grabbed a pizza up the road.. Thankfully things improved slightly with breakfast. Customer service is usually good at the Green mtn Inn, but this time it was lacking. Normally the staff is quite attentive and friendly, not this time, Staff seemed to be in a bad. mood or cranky at best. We checked out after our stay and looked at our receipt and we were charged with the take out we never got. Hmmm? We always come to Vt in the summer and winter and always stay at the Green Mtn Inn. Looks like it's time to find a new place to winter and summer in Stoye. Thanks for the memories.

We booked one of the more expensive rooms based on the photos on their website. The room assigned to us was in the inn itself, not annex. We were surprised to find our room was nothing like the room in the photo which we expected. This room was small with enough space for only 1 person to pass between the end of the bed and the fireplace. When sitting up in bed, you couldn't see the fire because it was do close at the foot. When we mentioned it at the desk, they told us the room we saw on their web site was in the annex and larger, as in the photo. They offered to give us another room but we declined, having already unpacked. So question when you book so you aren't deeply disappointed like we were. No compensation was offered.

Would like to give this a better review because it is a cheming place in a great location but a place cannot be nice and not nice at the same time: pick one, Green Mountain Inn.First, the good. The classic styling inside and out includes properly-crafted trim, cabinets, molding, wainscoating and chair rails, masonry and stonework. The outdoor pool, jacuzzi, hot tub and fire pit area are great. The health club area that includes a gym, men's and women's locker rooms and an indoor jacuzzi and sauna are really nice. The common areas have nice furnishings. The layout is comfortable, or cozy, in keeping with its early New England theme. It is nice and convenient to have two on-site restaurants, one The WIP, which is very good and the other, who's name I don't know, which is average, although the service is friendly. The rooms are well-apponted and have coffee makers, refrigerators, televisions, safes, upholstered lounge chairs Terry cloth robes and extra pillows and blankets in the closets. Now the bad. My sheets should have been replaced some time ago. They were somewhat thin and pilled. I asked the cleaning staff to change my bed after day 2 and the next set was an improvement. The shower in the gym locker room never got warm and there were no towels available, half the time I used the elevator it smelled like a blown-out vacuum bag. Our first day the shower drain drained slow. There is no soap or lotion provided. Things kept tumbling out of the door of the fridge because it had a poorly-conceived retainer rod. The key card mechanism on the doors usually took a few or more swipes to go green. The little store is nice but was improperly stocked with beer. Also it provided no red bull - why not? The game room is nice to have but it have such an intolerable vacuum bag smell I couldn't stay in it for more than a few seconds; also no pinball or Mrs pac man. The location of the arcade should be adjacent to the pool. There should also be some sort of beverage and other service near the pool when it is warm, even in winter! Lastly,

This was our first time staying at the Green Mountain Inn, although my family had eaten here in the 1980s for lunch when I was a child. (A steak dinner was $9.95 at the time!) This time it was my husband, my two girls, and me for three nights. We had a room with two double beds and a huge jacuzzi tub. My kids enjoyed that so much and I did, too. The room had tasteful decorations and plenty of toiletries in wall dispensers. It had a small fridge. There was a fireplace but not suitable for the time of year! My youngest girl loved the bathrobes! The staff was so friendly at check in and at breakfast. The housekeeping team left our room immaculate each day. The hotel has plenty of free parking and our room did not have laundry facilities. There is a laundromat down the street-900 feet. We drove but could have walked to it. It was a bit pricey but convenient and had all we needed. There are plenty of shops nearby and restaurants plus ice cream and wine and cheese, etc. We had the full breakfast (order off menu and includes gratuity): juice, coffee, pancakes, omelets, scones, muffins, you name it. We dined twice at the Whip for lunch (made a reservation) and there were all sorts of delights. The second time we sat on their covered terrace and it wasn’t hot at all and no bugs. We wanted to try the turkey dinner (had it before) but they had run out. Alas, next time! The pool had a hot tub and plenty of seating/loungers and pool games plus a pool bar that was always staffed. What could be better: pool was on cold side. The AC as others said is very noisy and runs loudly all night. Double beds a bit of a squeeze for two people but the room could not have held bigger beds. Street noise at night something of a bother but hotel can’t help that. That said, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would return. It is a pleasant, quaint place from which to explore all that Stowe has to offer.

A very overated Inn! Our room was dark, toilet didn't operate properly. Hedges outside of our room needed to be groomed so we could have looked outside. Stayed only 1 day due to this. A very long 7 hour drive one way for an Inn that was expensive as well! In its favor, the breakfast was very good. Yvonne and Ben Ackley

Wonderful old Inn in the heart of Stowe. Beautiful spacious rooms with fireplace and comfortable beds. On site pool and fitness room for those who are so inclined! Whip Bar and Grill offered excellent fare. Close to the start of the Recreation Path. On site parking was readily available. Check in was a breeze.

Wow.... This place is simply amazing. Old-school charm, and very clean. I love the set up. If you get the chance to stay here you will not be disappointed.
