Their smash burger is one of the best burgers I’ve ever had. I did a “Plain Jane” with Swiss cheese and mushrooms and it was out of this world good. The atmosphere was nice, and so was the bartender. I’d definitely recommend

Great food, great service, great music. We ordered the duck wontons, smash burger with tots, and the Philly cheese steak with sweet potato fries. Everything was delicious! The hostess and our waitress were super friendly and attentive. No complaints! Will eat there again!

Good food, great service. Very slow night, so the food came really fast. Smash burger had lots of flavor, and the tots are excellent.
Just went here for lunch yesterday. All the food was overcooked and at the same time cold (not the tots those were good). Waiter was very short and not pleasant. Lots of great places to eat in Stowe unfortunately Mondays are limited on what is open would recommend looking around if you can.

The vibe is fun and they have good beer on tap. The food is decent but the burgers remind me too much of fast food to make me a regular customer. The prices are typical-to-low for a pub. We fed 7 people, including a few beers, for about $200.

First thing I heard upon walking into The Backyard was "Higher" by Creed, and that set my mood and expectations high for the place.
The music they've got going is great and sets a good mood, and the wait staff is very friendly. I'd give atmosphere and service an easy 5 Stars.
I feel the food is the main falter for The Backyard. My headbanger was 17 dollars which seems exceedingly high for a double smash burger, and I'll be honest I was let down by the amount of "heat" i.e spiciness I got with it. Also 5 dollars as an upgrade charge for Tots is very excessive. The tots were very good but not 5 dollars good.
The place The Backyard shined for food was their Raspberry Lemon Cake. Which was genuinely delicious and despite the price I'd gladly pay it again for that little slice of heaven.
During my stay in Stowe I will doubtlessly return to The Backyard again to sample more of its menu and I hope my future visits are as good if not better.

Tucked in behind some other businesses (hence Backyard). Great service above all. Cute decor place with great burgers and tacos. Beer selection is just right with a serviceable amount of bourbons. A go-to for our family when back in town.
Kid-friendliness: Decent kids menu and coloring/crayons.
We tried the backyard for dinner this evening. While the food came out quickly and was just okay it was nothing earth shattering. Up charging for tater-tots is just silly. You are essentially serving pub food, I don’t get the up charge for tater-tots. Serving chips as a side at dinner is just plain stupid.
My wife had the Cuban panini sandwich, it was the furthest thing from a Cuban! I had the double bacon smash burger which was decent. The best part of the meal was the tater-tots and sweet potato fries.
Our waitress was extremely kind but never asked if we would like a refill on our drinks. Overall one of the worst dining experiences we’ve had in Stowe, we will not be returning. Was not worth the $96 we paid, there are far better options.

It was amazing! We came from MN to visit Stowe and went for lunch. The girls I was with said multiple times it was the best burger of their lives. Bacon was perfectly cooked. Brussels Sprouts were wonderful! Local Burger was amazing! Must visit if you’re coming to Stowe.
