Been coming to the Stowehof for a few years now. This year was different. No mention this place is closed anywhere on the Facebook page. Booked a room for nearly $300 a night midweek in August 2022, only to find out the restaurant and bar were “closed for season” once we checked in. I get staffing is hard currently, but updating your website, social media or letting your guests know amenities are closed when you call to reserve a room is not hard. Won’t be back.

I stayed in room 61 in September of last year. I only ate here once while I stayed. It was a good meal and excellent service. A young lady who was new served me and did a fine job.

Best hidden gem in stowe. Off the beaten path, and tucked in the iconic Stowehof, the Fritz is an iconic spot for some après! Great staff, and tasty food. Don’t sleep on the burger or the duck fat fries!! The atmosphere is super cozy and you feel like you’re in a time capsule of the 70s-80s (in the best way possible). For how short staffed they seemed, they provided great service without a sweat. If everywhere else in town is packed and you’re waiting for a table, I suggest checking this little gem out.

We had a lovely dinner and a wonderful evening. This restaurant has such a cosy and relaxed vibe which feels like a hidden lair with low ceiling, its nooks and crannies and a pool table. My chicken burger was delicious and my boyfriend's steak was also very good. The cooking was perfect. I had a great wheat beer and my boyfriend had a great pinot noir by the glass which was very generous in quantity. It would be nice to have the beautiful fireplace in use as it would add to the already very cosy atmosphere but maybe it is because it gets the restaurant too warm. Our server was great and efficient. We loved it so much that we will be back at our next stay at the incredible Stowehof.

Simple pub atmosphere. Delicious food.

Our server was the best. He was so patient with our never ending questions and handled our boisterous group of 7 very effectively and cheerfully. Our drinks were delicious and the food was very good. I wish my fondue had a little more bite to it. It was a bit runny but the generous board of veggies and bread made up for it. The Schnitzel got a solid A from an Austrian and a German. The sauce was not traditional but still delicious. Cocktails were great too. Very comfortable & cozy atmosphere.

This was our first visit to the Fritz and we will definitely be back for the warm intimate atmosphere, knowledgeable and attentive service and delicious steak and schnitzel. The wine and beer lists are great as well.

Unique

Love the Stowehof and the Fritz Bar & Restaurant. The service is friendly and helpful and the Stowehof itself is a wonderfully quirky and unique place. They definitely don't make them like this anymore! Be sure to go upstairs to the lounge afterwards to finish your drink and enjoy the fabulous open fire place while soaking up the atmosphere.

We wanted to watch The NFL playoff games every place is booked this please not only head to table but also had a pool table a leather couch and the NFL games and the food was great

Stayed at the stowehof with my girlfriend over new years and loved the Fritz Bar, very old school character, super homey, this is not some trendy slick place, its for people who want to feel like youre in some special little beer bar in the alps of italy etc. I chalk the 'bad' reviews to slick trendy people who would never be able to appreciate the character and history of this great little ski town hole in the wall. Youre not coming here for fine dining, youre coming for the vibe, a drink, a snack and to feel like you and your friends are in youre own little world for an hour.

This place is fantastic. Great service, amazing food. Not sure what the other crappy reviews were about, but not what we experienced. Brenda at the bar was as sweet as can be. We started with the Vermont cheese board and went from there. Take this as the review you should read, go and enjoy!

The food was good but the service was reprehensible. I understand that there is a staffing shortage, but the table next to us, a party of similar size, received their food in a timely manner. Three of our party received their meal 30 minutes after everyone else. And one of the entrees was wrong. Of the three who had to wait, it was two hours from sit down time to the serving of the meal. Again, the food was good, but portions varied. The schnitzel was huge and the gnocchi was minuscule. So if you're starving or in a hurry, maybe wait until the staff shortage rectifies itself or the kitchen figures out how to put things out a little more timely.

I think this is the best kept secret in Stowe. The menu is creative and the food is great. The atmosphere has quite a bit of nostalgia that is very hard to find these days.

Best chicken sandwich of entire my life (and I’ve been to Nashville!) the vibes are great, the staff is awesome and the wine pours are heavy. I highly suggest this place and I will be back next time I’m in Stowe!
