All I can speak of is my experience, and no one else's. But... best ice cream I have ever had in my life! Maybe there's better places out there; but so far: this was the best ice cream I've ever discovered. Tempted to come back to Vermont just to revisit this place.
What happened to the Weston location?! Horrible does not begin to describe it. We used to get delicious COOKED hot dogs. They have now changed the hot dogs they use/sell and we just now for the second time in a row were sold cold hot dogs (we thought last time was a fluke). They used to be delicious on a toasted bun and now they have not only changed the hot dogs themselves but they are served cold. The poor girl serving is the only one there with the task of the register and serving food and looks overwhelmed. Do better!
First and foremost, this place has the BEST FOOD I’VE EVER HAD IN VERMONT. The Mac and cheese is incredible! However, today we got there at 5:25pm (they close at 5:30, & we drove an hour to get here) and as we walk up to the window, this horrible girl slammed the window shut on my face! Like I understand telling me that you’re no longer taking orders but to slam the window shut and laugh in my face was something else. Really really really rude and I hope she gets fired!!! We would have given 5 stars and a glowing review had she not done that.
This place used to have the best fresh food, now you only get like 4 options, all of which taste like premade hospital food. Huge step in the wrong direction, which is very unlike the Vermont country store.
Just came here for a maple creemee, and it did not disappoint!
Creemees are hollow! We ordered some creemees and they swirled in onto the cone so it looked like a lot but then once you started eating it, it was hollow in the middle-ice cream around an empty core above the cone! I’ve never had an ice cream hollow like that. The taste was good but I felt ripped off
Excellent maple cree-mee, topped with a crunchy little maple cookie. One of 3 cree-mee spots we hit this week and the cookie was a unique bonus here. Outdoor seating on a rocking chair. Server was a friendly, competent teenager with a sincere smile. (It is absolutely true, however, that the napkins are very thin and get stuck in the dispenser.)Did not taste anything else - when you can have a maple cree-mee, why would you bother?
We came to Weston in late September to visit the Vermont Country store and see some fall follage. Due to covid we ordered at the outside window but were able to eat at an inside table. The sandwiches we had were absolutely delicious. A cob dog with sauerkraut, dill pickles, Vermont cheddar and mustard was the best dog ever. If we're back in the area again we will definitely stop there.
I was absolutely shocked to walk into this place, discovering that the Bryant House, a charming throwback to old New England that served outstanding "down home" food amid wonderful ambiance, was gone. In its place is this pathetic do-it-yourself joint that could be found in any suburban strip center in America. I have been visiting the Vermont Country Store, and dinng at the Bryant House, for over SIXTY years. It was heartbreaking to see one more example of the "quick and easy" dining that has taken over America replace what was a gem. Shame on the Vermont Country Store, though after the initial shock I can't say, upon reflection, that it comes as a total surprise. The Country Store itself, as it has morphed into a big business, has gradually lost more and more of what made it a special place years ago. It's former charm has largely been lost. Sadly, one more bit of true "Americana" has been swallowed up by the market.
Weston, Vt is a very small town. But it has a major tourist attraction - the Vermont Country Store - that draws hundreds of visitors every day. So where to have lunch? When we were there (a typical late August Thursday), the only option in town was Mildred's. There is another sandwich place across the road, but it was closed. There may be a slightly upscale place, but its on the outskirts of town (and not where most tourists would see it as they enter Weston), and we only recognized it for what it was because the owner of the gallery next to the Country Store had told us about it. So, Mildred's is the place for lunch. Wife and I had lunch there many years ago - pre-Covid. Our reaction at the time was that it was OK although the menu was limited. This time - after Covid, we ordered at the outside window and ate at a picnic table under a large tent. Actually, in many ways, I think this was better because there was no way that it could be interpreted as anything other than meeting basic nutritional requirements. We wanted a light lunch - so we shared a grilled ham and cheese sandwich. And it was actually very good - lots of very tasty ham with some really good Vermont cheddar, grilled on a rustic and flavorful bread. Wife thought it was some kind of Vermont country bread, while I thought it might be a light rye. But it was still very good. I will say that it wasn't what I thought I was ordering - the posted menu said the ham and cheese came with lettuce and tomato on a roll.

Nice selection of sandwiches, good quality food in a nice setting. Not a typical greasy dinner. Vegetarian options , would recommend.
We stopped here after shopping and limited options for lunch. Wife had ham cheddar on sour dough and I had Vermont cheddar burger. Good size sandwiches with good flavor. We both had a cup of New England clam chowder which was excellent as well. Didn’t like the big oyster crackers but don’t like oyster crackers anyways. Would stop here again.
Enjoyed the Maple Cremee very much! (Soft serve maple ice cream) Don't know if it's intentional but got a kick of the name for the restaurant, which was the name of Joan Crawford's restaurant in Mildred Pierce, a great film noir.
On the way out of the next-door store we saw the signs for ice cream And decided to check it out. We were very glad we did so, the soft serve maple and vanilla twist was excellent and the hard dip maple walnut was very good. We plan on stopping again on our way back through!
Perfect location next to the Westin VT original Vermont Country Store. Order at the counter and sit outside. Comfort foods such as mac and cheese and burger type items. Maple Creemee was excellent $4 for a small, but twice as much soft serve ice cream for $5.
