Party of 6 adults from Seattle, loved the long list of specials, The sangria, sampled by the group, was judged one or THE best ever, generous plates, way more creative dishes than 90% of our usual Mexican places, good water service, main waiter (owner?) was gracious and attentive. Interesting decor and not noisy. The desert tray was WAY more than expected. We ordered three among us to share and all were delighted.

The servers were very friendly. The menu was varied and offered something for most everyone. Their children’s meal selection covered the favorites. Indoor and outdoor seating. My husband’s mahi mahi dish was one of the best he’s had. The portions are generous. Neither of us could finish. The prices were typical for this area.

Another great meal from Frida’s. We came back to Anacortes in part to eat here again and we were not disappointed. Gracious and attentive servers, an old school decor that feels like Old Mexico, interesting art, and amazing food. And amazing tequilas! While waiting I tried a Clase Azul Reposado with a single ice cube, as recommended. It was amazing, with a hint of vanilla. Their take on a Caesar salad is delicious, with an authentic home-made anchovy-based dressing and fresh, crispy tortilla strips. The chicken mole was outstanding, so many complex flavors and the heat was a perfect level to complement the sauce. The braised lamb shank was amazing, tender and suffused with a citrus and chile sauce that matched perfectly with the lamb flavors. The house-made premium margaritas were also delicious, my wife had a pomegranate base and mine was the Ultimate, and it was. Not always a fast restaurant, but why does everything have to be fast? Authentic is more important, and gracious is nice too.

3/25/2025: The two of us stopped in for dinner and was pleasantly surprised. The decor is very warm and welcoming, high ceilings and art of Frida Kahlo. Service very friendly and attentive. We ordered margarita, sangria, guacamole, steak fajitas, and chiles mathias goeritz. Everything was delicious. The menu has gourmet and traditional items you'd find at other Mexican restaurants. I loved seeing gourmet dishes not normally found and was happy to try something I don't normally see.

Lovely space! Great vibe. The food was good but there are a couple of misses on the menu. First, the beans have great flavor but they're waaaay too liquid IMO. I love whole beans so this was a bummer. The combo appetizer platter was a bit odd. Very sparsely portioned in an attempt to look fancy with four small slices of baguette at each corner, but other than those things, we had a great meal and drinks. The chips and salsa are yummy, and our entrees were lovely. The desserts were especially tasty! Give them a try. Totally worth it.

The food was wonderful, it just took a little bit of time. It was defiantly worth the two hour drive from Vancouver. I especially liked the tacos and dessert.

Food was slightly above standard Mexican fare and restaurant had a nice ambience. I would however expect homemade tortillas given prices and “gourmet” being in the name. No draft beer either, despite menu stating so, resulting in less value for money. Good overall.

Good service, good menu selection, but the queso fundido was a small skillet of something like a cheesy base to a mac & cheese dish. The spicy queso appetizer was good, but not very queso-y.

Everyone else loved their dishes... the chili relleno, tacos, salad, and tortilla soup. Would go again but get a different dish.

Oh! The dessert churros were delicious!

Simply said THE BEST Mexican food I have ever had. Better than anything I have had anywhere else. Been to Cancun, Puerto Vallarta, Playa Del Carmen, and lived in Southern California. A few come close, but this place is next level. Anytime we're in the Pacific Northwest, my wife insists we come here.

Good food but small portions. Prices have gone up significantly by almost 50% in the last 4 years. Add to this a 4% card fee that was recently added.

We were also charged a 20% auto gratuity for a group of more than 6. To my understanding it should have been 18%.

The serving staff was unfriendly when we asked to move to the outside tables after sitting inside. I know that is additional tables to clean but come on.

Will not be back.
