Always great service and good food. This simple dinner has been around for decades, although I'm new to the area. As a single guy, I enjoy the friendly servers that lighten the day and get to know you. The food is consistently good. It's no high class place or special atmosphere, but it's a reasonable, friendly place to get food.
I don't think there are nearly enough places like the Starting Gate Restaurant, no pretentious frills here. Just good food, good service and prices (considering what they're like now) that are quite reasonable. Classic diner fare including delicious pies (my favorites are chocolate cream and lemon meringue).
Sitting at the counter here will take you back a few decades in the best way possible. The servers are so sweet, cooks grinding and slinging out some top quality diner food for really cheap! Absolute local gem, never change! The way they do their hash browns is super unique they’re crisp but partially mashed, so good, tip get them well done
