I’ve never had an experience like the one my husband and I had at Bainbridge Brewing today. We are new to the island and have been told by a couple families that it’s very family friendly so we decided to go play pinball and hang with a couple friends. Wow, were we wrong. Our toddler squealed a couple times in excitement over the pinball lights upstairs and that was enough for another patron to complain about us and the bartender, Andrew, to aggressively ask us to leave. His friends were sitting at the bar and they all clapped as we walked out, holding our kids. It felt like a nightmare situation, especially as a mom who holds her kids to account as much as possible for their behavior. I truly didn’t feel they were being disruptive, in an already very loud taproom, upstairs, away from most of the crowd. We will obviously never return and have many friends and family who will be boycotting in solidarity.
**Update: We did speak with the owner about this incident. He is incompetent and clearly lacks a back bone. We were offered a lackluster apology. Believe he muttered something about the bartender having twenty years experience. Something I’m sure the bartenders parents are proud of. This brewery has many poor reviews. Some from other parents who felt they were targeted unfairly for bringing their children and a few stating they felt the establishment is not an ally to the LGBTQ community. These track completely with the horrible culture we experienced firsthand.
4.6 out of 5 stars is highly misleading.
Wife and I went on a Thursday night amidst locals playing trivia, were asked to leave when our beautiful 2 yr old screamed in excitement at the Pac-Man game upstairs. Woman playing trivia complained to bartender Andrew, who then stated to my wife that he could get our 2 yr old to quiet down. Ok. Bartender then proceeded to go downstairs, share with his regulars at the bar what had transpired. As we walked downstairs to leave, bartender pointed to the door saying “bye,” while a guy seated at the bar yelled “get your kids out of here!” Collectively, they all clapped as we walked out the door.
Never in my life have I experienced such vitriol from a public establishment, its employees, and fellow patrons. Owner called my wife and I the next day, stated “bartender has 20 yrs experience …” Guess that’s their idea of an apology.
Your kids are not welcome at Bainbridge Brewing. This business does not deserve your hard-earned money.
The beer was barely drinkable, the staff openly rude. Save yourself the trip, because you won't be appreciated.
Genuinely love this place. Best brewery in Kitsap by a long shot. Every time I come I truly feel like family. Come by for a great time and some great drinks! Andrew and Kotomi are the extra awesome and accommodating.
Worth Visiting
Great beer great staff!
Much better
Try the kolsch.
NOT GAY-FRIENDLY! I went to this establishment with 7 friends. We were showing out-of-town friends, another piece of Seattle. We are a gay and gay-friendly group having a good time. Twice, the bartender asked us to keep it down; not because we were being loud, but because we were being fabulous. Once out, the bartender followed us out to reiterate that we were being too loud; other patrons approached us to assure us that was not the case.
Phillip makes this place 5/5

What a great spot on the island. Amazing beer, good prices and excellent service. Phillip makes everyone feel at home. Unlimited water for the puppy. Try the cold IPA!!
The location was easy to navigate from the ferry terminal and the drive was a nice change of scenery from the usual crush of tall buildings and narrow streets of Seattle. The selection of drinks was superb and the staff were very friendly and attentive to making great recommendations based on your tastes and preferences. Knowledgeable team of great people who made sure the tables were clear and clean. You order your drinks from the bar and can sample to see if you like what's available.
Overall, it was a fantastic experience and definitely one of my top experiences for a brewery outing with fantastic friends in a location that was quiet, comfortable, and immersed in nature. The business park that the brewery is located also features some distilleries within the same parking area so moving from one preference of drink to another was as simple as crossing the parking lots. Great pizza place nearby as well. I would definitely endure the potentially long wait times of the ferries from Seattle to Bainbridge just to enjoy the outing with friends at this brewery.
Also, there's an awesome raptor hanging out in a nest on the cell tower nearby and it'll peek at you if you're seated outside.
Normally my reviews are all good, but Thursday night trivia they cranked the speakers way LOUD, my wife asked if they could turn it down but NO. Anyway the beer and rest is just don't sit outside on Thirsday!good
Always a good time at the brewery. My review is for the personal touch of our local brewery, they're super friendly and know their regulars. I am a sporadic visitor (ie. homebody) but I recently scheduled a meeting at the brewery and ordered pizza delivery. Well, my pizza beat me to the brewery by a good 30 minutes. Staff accepted the pizza and held it for me. They then called me to let me know. Great staff and great beer. Personal favorite is the Kolsch. Their sours are also good ?
Home of the best Japanese whisky. And the best, friendliest staff (specifically Erin). ❤️
