Ordered the Cuban B and Fish and chips to go in order to catch the ferry. This was at 2:10, not a busy time. At 30 minutes we were still waiting. Like too many places, they give you the option to tip before anything has been done. My 20% tip was too generous for just working the register. The front girl finally checked and brought us the food to go in a paper bag. The fish and chips had obviously been sitting there a long time. They were room temp, soggy and greasy. The Cuban was warm. Just OK. There were no napkins, nor any condiments or utensils. This was $60 worth of disappointment! We made the ferry.

A very sleek and stylish PNW rustic urban mercantile/cafe. We ordered a cappuccino and an Americano. We found the coffee very fruity and acidic and lacking the depth or base notes we enjoy.

While the vibes of this place are trendy and the food is unique, it just doesn’t make sense.
What drove me to this restaurant originally were the raving reviews on the smash burger, which is excellent. I also have to mention the café salad—wow, it is so good. It’s simple, but worth getting every time.
The rest of the food seems to be lacking in some parts. For starters, the French onion burger tastes absolutely nothing like French onion. What it does taste like is pho. I understand what I was signing up for, as I clearly saw the pho spice on the menu. However, I would’ve enjoyed it more if it was simply labeled differently.
The chicken sandwich, ordered Nashville hot, was good but lacked spice and moisture. It was as dry as could be.
I will definitely be back for the salad, smash burger, and fries, but will simply skip everything else.
Also, in no regards to the food, I simply just wish you’d up the price a dollar or two rather than charge a 5% fee.
Great location and experience. Highly recommended and would go back.

They close before their actual closing time and lock the door!! If you are supposed to close at 5pm then you should stay open until 5pm!

We ordered three burgers, all medium rare for take out. When we got the burgers, they were so pink we had to nuke them. When we called to mention it since we were worried they were severely under cooked and other items in our order were messed up, the guy at the front promised new burgers and refund.
We called back to see if burgers were ready and the guy said he wasn’t allowed to refund us and the cook (who was making new burgers) said he cooked it correctly and for future to order medium.
Overall, we appreciated the guy at the front trying to make things right but did not appreciate the comments made by the cook. The fries are very delicious.
I included a photo of one of the original burgers compared to the remade one and one of the original burgers after being nuked for 30 seconds.
We appreciated our burgers being remade, however they were remade well done/slightly charred. so for anyone who orders there choose your meat temp accordingly.

Went here for lunch after shopping around. Service was kinda terrible. We were excited to eat here and the smash burger was really good but it took 40mins to get two of our drinks, and there was no accountability or apology for the wait. Then one of our meals was forgotten and when they brought it out they didnt remove it from the bill or apologize either. It was very odd hospitality service. The server tried to pay attention to us after two mishaps happened but at that point we were ready to go and catch the ferry back to Seattle. It was also $6 for a diet coke which was kinda interesting while the Arnold Palmer was $5.

Updating my review of Cafe Hitchcock as the last time I was here I did not try the food. WHAT WAS I THINKING?
Really impressed by what Cafe Hitchcock has built here. This place is awesome! The ambiance is cozy but still booming and the staff always handles it like pros. I had a PHENOMENAL espresso martini that was so damn smooth and exactly what my day needed! ;)
The star of the show? THE KING CRAB EGGS BENEDICT
Oh my GAWD. Where has this bit of heaven been all my life? The eggs perfectly poached little pillows, rich hollandaise, and huge pieces of king crab that make this dish a GAME CHANGER IMO. I'm eccentric I know but trust me. Try it.
Safe to say my update was long overdue, as Cafe Hitchcock has officially earned its permanent spot for me when visiting Bainbridge!
5 stars!

Didn't ask how we wanted our burgers cooked and decided overcooked would be the best. No wonder the food took 45 minutes.

Best fish and chips I’ve ever had! The malt vinegar powder was perfect, not making the fish soggy, and the tartar sauce was so delicious. Also got a Bloody Mary that was wonderful. So glad we stopped in here by chance! I’ll remember our time here and will recommend it to others.
