Extremely friendly service, and extremely nice location. It's just a good vibe, and especially if you can hit happy hour prices

Amazing fish and chips! The tartar sauce is so fresh and a perfect pair for the fish. Highly recommend!

I have no doubt that at some point the food was amazing. But when we went it was just ok I think because imthey don't have time to take the care they probably once did. The frys were great but the fish was bland.

Most excellent fish :)
Chips could have been a tad warmer. The cold mushy peas was a surprise, but quickly got to like them.

Ridiculously enormous piece of fish. I got cod chowder too because I'm a chowder hound and ended up taking half the fish home to be another meal. Fish had great flavor and it came out fast. The fries are unique and delightful, I loved the stout texture. The chowder was also nice, it was mild and creamy with good flavor. I'll absolutely be back.
BEWARE: Online pickup times are not accurate and there may be no notification if your order is ready. Plus the food is expensive with small portions.
I placed an online order and arrived at the exact pickup time listed. When I got there, it wasn’t on the pickup line, and I had to ask multiple times before learning it hadn’t been brought out. While I was waiting, I heard staff telling walk-ins the minimum wait was 45 minutes — which was already how long it had been since I placed my order.
There were no notifications or updates through the online system. The space is small and very busy, so you’re just standing there trying to figure out what’s happening.
After over an hour from when I placed the order, I went up to request a refund because I assumed it hadn’t been made. At that point, I was told it had been sitting in the back ready and getting cold. They said they had called me and showed me my correct phone number, but I did not receive a call. I had been standing there the entire time watching the counter.
I paid nearly $30 for one serving of cold food and lost well over an hour of my day off trying to pick it up. I asked for a refund and it was not provided.
I ended up eating the food cold and soggy. It was not good cold. Maybe it’s better fresh and hot, but fried fish and fries are not meant to sit in the back getting cold. It came with ~16 fries. I couldn’t believe it! $30 for a measly helping.
I understand being busy. But the lack of communication, the inaccurate pickup time, and the refusal to refund made this a really disappointing experience.
I would not return or suggested to anyone. Instead, try Harbor House. They have much better fish and chips and stronger customer service.

The Seattle area has a LOT of seafood options, but Proper Fish is one of the best! They’re consistently high quality. It can take a while to get your food if they’re busy, but it’s well worth the wait.

Ordered the Lobster Roll. They said it would be 20 min, but it took almost an hour. Bread was too think and the fries were cold. My order was to go, but if I stayed I would have sent it back for it to be fresh. Very disappointing.

From the sidewalk, the bar is located at the front and the restaurant is around the corner. We didn’t realize this until halfway through our meal when one of us needed to use the bathroom which was outside and around the corner.
The bar area is cute. The mural of the ferry and the whale is very well done.
Service was quick and the food came out promptly. Our whole group loved every bit of our food - fish tacos, fish and chips; I got the fish sandwich. The fish was cooked perfectly and the batter stuck to the fish without being too thick. We got a bit of all the sauces and our entire group could not get enough of the basil aioli!
We will be back!

This place is always packed and for good reason. The very generous portions of crispy fried fish and fries cannot be beat. The tacos were good but didn’t have enough sauce or salt on them so they tasted a bit bland. Service was meh - they forgot my order and also got it mixed up.

Very good, liiiiittle pricy but expected on Bainbridge. $25-$30 for fish and chips and a drink. Very good portion size though.

Is this the best fish and chips place in the seattle area as they claim? I really hope not for Seattle’s sake. The atmosphere is nice, the fish is fresh however, the food is bland, under-seasoned and honestly, tasteless.
We tried the fish and chips and fish tacos, maybe the other dishes are good, but for a restaurant that makes such a bold claim about their fish and chips, it was very disappointing.

We shared the lobster roll, chowder, and fish and chips. All were excellent and came out quickly over weekend lunch. The lobster roll had large chunks of lobster and the bread was toasted perfectly. The fish and chips was a very generous portion. The batter was nice and crisp. All very good value for the price.
