San Carlos Restaurant

Nobody to attend to in restaurant, and still forgot about my food. Two tables in the whole place. Cold food… and it’s bar food. BAR food going for $20-30 a plate. Wow…

First meal landing on Bainbridge Island to visit family was at San Carlos Restaurant. You gotta have their chips and salsa! For dinner I had the chile relleno and my daughter had the steak burrito. I stole some of her steak - it was so good. Both dishes were delicious! Our hosts who are regulars here, had the combo meal and shrimp platter. We complemented our meal with a coconut margarita and their famous peach margarita. General Manager Kim made our dining experience so fun! She created the birthday cake flan which was so yummy and a great ending to our dinner.

My wife and I, plus a friend ate there last night. I decided to have their special Ropa vieja, shredded flank steak with jasmine rice and grilled plantain’s. While the meat was prepared well, it was devoid of any kind of flavor at all other than beef and maybe tomato(?). As for the rice, they need to learn how to wash it or measure the rice&water much better, really really bad rice. The plantains were ok after a good dose of salt, not much else can be said about them. Our friends chicken dish was similar, chicken was prepared well, but really devoid of any flavor. I wont get descriptive of my wifes shrip dish, but borderline food poisoning(but WOW, it had flavor beyond the shrimp).
The deck atmosphere is really nice, but I would never recommend this place to someone. That is three strikes on one table for an expensive Latino restaurant, spend your money elsewhere. I gave it 2 stars based on service and atmosphere, otherwise 1star

so i pulled up with my husband last night (8mar) around 7pm ish we was checking out some mexican restaurants sum new . service was alright i mean i feel like it was a bit much asking if we called ahead. for a table even tho the place was like empty . the food man, was not the best grilled chicken not even close idk why there was like red sauce on top of it . it was more like chicken thighs . rice looked way to squished the beans was alright however they was cold . the tops was very unnecessary. i notice they was like only 2 serves so i could understand the treatment.

Amazing food, highly recommend the seafood chimichanga.

Really good Mexican food can be found here. I mean, really good. I would recommend sitting outside, which is pretty. Inside is not. This restaurant badly needs a remodel inside, but going there for a really good Mexican meal is worth it. Just don't sit inside! Staff is wonderful and accommodating. This restaurant has been in business for many years. Nothing lasts that long without good food. All in all, I gave it five stars.

The salsa is amazing and complemented by good, crispy chips. I got the mesquite chicken and sour cream enchiladas and the flavors were great. Not crazy about their rice but I filled up on the chips and enchiladas anyways ❤️❤️ definitely will be back again!

The food was bland and unauthentic. Our waitress had an attitude the whole time and it took 30 minutes after we sat down for her to take our order. The atmosphere was fine but it was kind of a weird vibe. Would not recommend.

? Very delicious Mexican food with that home-style vibe. Great service and fun atmosphere. Definitely a must try experience when hungry on Bainbridge Island.
