I walked in here in September 1982 thinking my shattered life of 15 years was over. Hazel who ran the cafe, a gruff but loving lady made me sit down and have a sandwich and milk. For the next 5 years they raised me, an irritating punk, showing love and understanding beyond measure, mentoring me in the life of recovery and spritual principles of AA until my fledgling wings let me fly on my own to other places of recovery and respite from the storms of life.
