Avenue is an iconic Whatcom County lunch/breakfast spot and they always hit just right! You genuinely can't go wrong with anything off their menu, and I love that I still feel great after eating there.

Love how easy it is to customize different sandwiches to adapt to dietary needs and everything just tastes SO good. Plus, I feel they're super affordable and love that you can pickup a loaf of bread or sleeve of english muffins on your way out!

Menu Faves: BLT&T, any of their Eggenue Breakfast Sandwiches, Rosemary Bread/English Muffins, Banh Mi Sandwiches.

Grilled cheese sandwich made me happy and want to hide in Argentina just like my pre historic dad perhaps did, like ancient astronaut theorists suggest.

Ordered their Tuna Melt and Lavender Honey latte while my partner got a reuben with a Chai latte. Both sandwiches were absolutely delicious, and the beverages were great. Loved the little cinnamon shooting star on his. Super cute. The dill in the tuna was delish. Probably would have skipped the chips. Not that they were bad, just big sandwiches paired with 16oz lattes left me already super full, so the chips were a little unnecessary. Was a little loud, but every cafe downtown on the weekend is going to be so that's kind of out of their hands.

We are from Vancouver BC Canada, and recently ate there after checking out the Bellingham Antique Mall across the street on Railroad Avenue. I like sandwiches so this was an ideal place for a bite to eat.I ordered the "Californian" sandwich which had free-range chicken, bacon, avocado, tomato, sprouts & ranch on toasted Ciabatta . The server asked if I would like some chips to go with it, and I said 'yes'. (the chips were kettle potato chips). I also ordered a cup of their soup of the day which was Tomato Dill soup. My friend only ordered a coffee. We arrived on a Sunday, around 1:45 pm. There were only 5 customers seated so the place was pretty empty. I assume we came just after the lunch/brunch crowd left, hence got there during their downtime. The place was spacious with lots of seats. I was waiting for my sandwich which seemed to take a lot longer than I expected. I was expecting it in 10 minutes time but when I had waited at least 20 minutes, I started to ponder since there weren't many walk in customers while we waited so not sure why it was taking so long. it seems there was only one prep person at their kitchen. The kitchen is an open kitchen and and well set up. You can tell from the set up they probably would have had more prep staff during their busy lunch time crowd but now it's their downtime, so only one person. They were also taking in some take out orders so I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. Anyhow, we waited about 25 minutes and my order was finally served. The sandwich was very tasty and fresh and the tomato dill soup was good, too. Afterwards, I also ordered a hot chocolate to go.I think I will check out their other locations for comparison purposes on our next visit to Bellingham.I am not that familiar with the downtown area and it was our first time checking out their downtown area. We walked from the Old City Hall Museum on Holly Street to this location on Railroad Avenue and noticed it had a few sketchy people and buskers loitering on the E. Holly St & Railroad. As we were walking out, we noticed 3 cops standing on Holly St (which is good). The situation (see a few sketchy people) is nothing too alarming as I have seen worse in other cities.I am glad we discovered this place.
