Shirlee Bird Cafe

Always looking for good coffee when I travel. Happened upon this friendly cafe. It was a fortunate find. The barista/baker had just pulled out pastries, one of which was lemon filled, it went well with my perfectly made Americano. I sat in the indoor courtyard where it was quite and relaxing. I will definately visit again when in the area.

Delicious artisan pastries, adorable place to pop in for a special treat! Highly recommend!

Loved the coffee, even the plain old brewed was fantastic. My friends had burritos and fancier coffee and tea and it was all very good. Our server was super nice and could tell she enjoys what she does.

Great latte, fresh baked, beautiful and tasty pastries with unique flavor twists on typical bakery offerings and made to order breakfast burritos. Service was excellent, prompt and welcoming and I left feeling like we could be friends. What a gem of a tiny bakery & coffee shop. Great seating to be found in the courtyard of the building. I love the merch, too! Looking forward to my next visit to Shirley Bird Cafe.

We love visiting Shirlee whenever we are in Fairhaven. It’s always such a treat, her food and coffee is fantastic. I really appreciate being able to support a business owner directly and know just who my money is going to. There have been times we were excited to get a treat and she was closed but it honestly just makes me love her business more. She’s a human and life happens and the treats tasted even better the next time!

I’m not one to leave negative reviews, but after my experience with who I assume is the owner, I feel the need to. When I arrived, I asked if the shop had a certain flavor and she was extremely rude, telling me to stop asking questions and just order because they have everything. I had never been to this coffee shop, so I do not feel my question was unwarranted. She proceeded to make comments like this the entire time we were there. I should have walked out, but I honestly was in shock she was talking to my friend and I this way. I understand people have bad days, but I’ve never experienced someone taking it out on customers in this way. Very unfortunate interaction and will not be going back.

A friend and I came here this morning and apparently we asked too many questions. The lady snapped at us and said “stop asking me questions and just tell me what you want I have everything and can make anything “. We were stunned. She handed us our order in the end and then slammed the door behind her, clearly mad at us. She just changed the trajectory of our day. What was such a great morning with a friend exploring local shops turned into us just asking what the heck we did to be treated like that the entire rest of the morning. Such a disappointment.

Showed up at 830am on a Monday. Wasn't open...

The owner/operator was delightful. Broke down the history of the building to us and was able to make me an exceptional drink though I am unfamiliar with non-Starbucks coffee. Pastries were incredible.

Best pastries I’ve ever had!! We had two savory and two sweet ones to share for me and my partner and afterwards I said we should’ve gotten double that because they were so good. The crusts were so buttery, flaky and melt in your mouth amazing, the quiche cup was sooooo good. The sweet pastries were perfect because they weren’t overly sweet at all - perfect balance with fresh fruit and tartness of lemon without being too much. Added to our “fav special places” list on Google so that we can stop by when we are around again. Owner was also so nice and told us about a better drive back to Seattle than just taking I5 and it was beautiful!!! Will 100% be back.

It truly matters, the one who prepares the food that you will ingest. This morning we met this beautiful Owner, who was so passionate about her work. To say work is an understatement because you can tell that her dedication to be prepared for customers with full energy and readiness was of the most importance. My friend and I were her first customers and we were able to purchase pastries that were warm and tasty. Her coffee is amazing!!! Well roasted! I had a black coffee and my friend had a white chocolate mocha with the owner’s special lavender syrup. It was to “live” for. We not only purchased food, but we got an opportunity to speak with the owner and hearing her story really made us understand her passion.
Keep on keeping on and take good care of yourself dear one. We will visit again!!!

Reopened! I am a huge fan, glad to see Shirley back in action. I highly recommend not only that you visit, but order an extra something, and leave a healthy tip.
