It is a bummer when a business is closed, especially when they do not update on Google, etc. I mapped and drove here, searched for parking, saw the espresso light on, and paid for parking, only to discover the place is closed for an involved remodel.

Quaint, cozy and comfortable. My son and I stopped in for a quick morning caffeine fix and were pleasantly surprised. Great chai tea latte and yummy snacks. Loved the fact that we could have a conversation in a quiet place too!

How I heard of this place: My sister once recommended The Daisy Cafe as a good brunch spot and we were pleasantly surprised to see it shares the same space as The Union Coffee Shop. The perfect pairing! Type of cuisine: Espresso and other beverages, a small selection of pastries, including bagels, cinnamon rolls and the like, and access to the entire Daisy Cafe menu. Ambiance: A two-in-one spot, where The Daisy Cafe takes one side, bright and complete with kitchen and bar seating; and The Union Coffee Shop takes up the other side, dark and complete with mega barista station. Both sides offer table-chair set-ups for patrons wishing to dine in. The atmosphere is casual, laid back, clean and very Bellingham - cozy, artsy, quaint and friendly. Despite being downtown, the Coffee Shop feels like a neighborhood spot, where you can walk in and know your barista and the faces seated about. What I ordered: For our children, two 12-ounce caramel sauce steamers, a 12-ounce mocha for me and a 16-ounce matcha latte for my husband. What I loved: The coffee is strong and robust, but smooth and creamy, the chocolate dark and bitter, with a generous topping of sweet whipped cream. Why I loved it: It's a great spot, the barista quiet and expert at his trade, and our beverages paired well with our Daisy Cafe fare. Cost: Average

We stopped by for a quick snack and coffee before heading down the Chuckanut Drive. The beverages were great. The cinnamon buns - pretty authentic and reminded me of the pastries I had in Finland and Denmark. The service was a bit slow but super, super friendly.

This review is for the attached Union Coffee Shop which is within the same building and seems to share the same ownership as Daisy cafe. Cute place located right next to a cafe. When I went in a few weeks ago you had to order from the cafe and then pick up in the coffee area (kind of confusing). Great space to work. Good area downtown and lots of tables.

Coffee is highly okay. Nice space. Absolutely no vegan or plant-based options. The hours are bizarre - almost always closed when I walk by

Be careful trying to drink your coffee here. Make sure you put it back on when not drinking or the staff will ask you to leave. They are very serious about face coverings at all times. The coffee was fine but the young man working the counter was surprisingly rude. First, he told me face covering didn't work well enough and that I would need another or leave. I told him I had a medical condition which prevents me from using most store bought masks. He laughed and told me to leave "his" private business. When I protested, a homeless man who was digging through the tip jar started yelling at me to leave. I pointed out that other people were drinking coffee without their masks on and the young man told them all to immediately put their masks on when not sipping their coffee. The manager came out, saw my mask, and told me to leave and she would bring me coffee outside. Ten minutes later, I got a cup of coffee. I'm sure most people have a fine experience here, but the manager and employee at the coffee section need to have more sensitivity training.

I like this place. Few spots open in town nowadays and this is the best.

Super cute aesthetic and very good chai latte! There was only one employee working and she was very friendly and extremely efficient. A little pricey but the hay straws are awesome!

I entered the Union Coffee Shop after our first visit to the St. Joseph Cancer Center, sad and caffeine-depleted, yet thankful to see 'Espresso' and the too-rare-elsewhere neon sign 'Open' lit. I ordered a Con Panna, thrilled to see it available according to the chalkboard menu. An oasis of humanity, kindness in a cup. Thanks to the barista -- she and the con panna are the reasons this review is five stars. I took some stickers to trade with friends and decorate my laptop.
