The young man who answered the phone seemed professional and efficient. But when we arrived, the staff was lackluster, complaining about their day, and devoid of a sense of customer service, positivity, or hustle.
Cleanliness was lacking. From the benches where you wait at the front, to the tables and the bathrooms.
The food was just okay, and we won't be back. The gravy had a curdled texture to it, not smooth or creamy. The potatoes were good, but not enough to make up for the entrees. The portion sizes were huge, which was appreciated.
Overall, Shelly's put warm food in our tummies after a plane ride and before a trip to the beach... It served its purpose, but unfortunately was a disappointment.

Dill. You need to LOVE dill on your potatoes. They drowned them in dill. At least let it be known ahead of time that there is dill all over them. It was very old and run down. I would go elsewhere. I thought it would be affordable as well. But most dishes were $18 and above. Bacon and eggs and lots of dill potatoes was $13 but that’s the cheapest item. Had a Diet Coke as well. I drink a lot of soda. I think the soda was flat. Server was nice.

I've been coming to this place since I've moved to Burien. My idea was to find a place that wasn't too far, in my area that can a regular spot for me and Shelly's is absolutely perfect. The food is great and Shelly herself is there yo meet and greet and take orders. She is wonderful and it's convenient because it's literally down the street from me. I can walk there and back but after all that food I dare not not! Lol I love Shelly's ❤️!!!!!

Came here because my original breakfast spot was packed. First time at Shelly’s and the food wasn’t great. Blueberries on the pancake was still frozen and hard. French Toast was bland just tasted like an eggy toast. Only thing good was the bacon. The quality of the ingredients was disappointing where I wished I made it at home instead. The service was okay not sure if the waiter was new but we sat way before these folks came in and the waiter took there order first before ours and we were already waiting for awhile for our order to be taken.

So they were obviously understaffed when I went in, sat for 30 minutes and started to notice how dirty it was, I was baffled, but still ready to get sat to eat, that was when I saw a cockroachh run under a booth, a big one, and well, I got up and walked out. And thats all I will say, was excited to try shelly but roaches are an immediate nope from me. You been warned.
I'm curious why Southern Diner's has Shelly's address and phone number on their receipts? Seems extremely sketchy. See attached photo. We bought Liver & Onions and Fried Porkchops and eggs.
Food is good but this is deceptive on either your part or Southern Diner's. I'll be asking questions.

We love coming here for random breakfast or brunch. There's usually just one server, so patience is key. Generous portions and we usually go home with a to go box of food. The quality has always been perfect for us. The hashbrowns are perfectly crispy, the eggs aren't over cooked, the bacon is perfectly crispy, too. For two adult breakfasts and one kid, I spent $65, including a tip. So not cheap but not expensive considering their generous portion sizes and consistent good food! It's a little run-down looking and definitely needs a fresh coat of paint and updated everything. But that doesn't take away from the yummy food here!
