For $40 we got a multi-course meal with the staff all in character and live music, in a beautiful setting with unique and delicious food. This would have been a real treat at thrice the price, and even driving 4 hours felt well worth it.

Most every weekend, all year, Camlann serves dinner at the Bors Hede Inn. And it's a NICE dinner, and entirely on the medieval theme. You get served on bread trenchers, don't get a fork, and it's mostly stuff you'd get in the original town of Camlann: a bread appetizer, a fruit & cheese & salad course, a choice of meat. If you want a fermented drink (wine or ale or hard cider), that's extra. Dessert is also extra. A guy with a lute sang a short song about every half hour. He's also the only guy I saw serving/taking orders. There's a cap on the number of people they can serve, but we went with a party of six and that was good.
AND OH MY GOSH THE BREAD WAS SUPER GOOD. Like, I took the leftover trencher home and planned a meal around leftover bread.
This is now on my list of things to do with guests as a fun outing. It's about $35 per person before fermented drink and dessert. It's cash or check only. Reservation required...you have to call their number and leave a message to get on their list, then they'll call you back. It's a weird way to set a reservation, but I guess that's how they did it in medieval times.

You have to go there and try the food, it's delicious: the main course, the drinks and the apple dessert. Plus the atmosphere is like you've traveled in a time machine! I love this place!

Had an absolutely lovely visit here and the related Camlann Village. Took off an atmosphere star because it was cold and would have been nice to have a fire going while we had our dinner, but we were also the only folks there, group of 7.The innkeeper and his wife are both amazing, passionate people and do a great job with keeping the medieval theme going throughout the day and meal service. The food was incredibly tasty and served in the most unique way, platters and 'trenchers', which are plate sized bread cut to make an edible plate. They have chicken, lamb, salmon, and pork dishes. The entertainment was on brand for their medieval theme. The inn keeper comes by with a lute and plays and sings for you. Bonus for us being the only people there that night as we got a lot of personalized attention. Would be neat to see the place more full, however, just for the ambiance and atmosphere of a more bustling inn.It is a neat note that any of the pottery/crockery that you use is made in Camlann village by their potter. The pewter, not so much, but they explain it creatively! It is definitely not a cheap experience and it is cash or check only, no cards. It worked out to about $43-$44 per person if you got 1 drink, a dessert, and a meal. We also toured the village before hand which is $10 per adult. Despite that I still think it is well worth doing at least once. They also regularly do festivals for medieval holidays. I would encourage anyone that wants to go to check their website ahead of time and see what events are going on and when. All in all, would love to go again when there are more people dining in just to get that experience.

We had a great time! Walked around the medieval village before dinner, super cute place. The menu is small but it serves dishes accurate to the 14th century in England. Do not go to this restaurant expecting service and food like you get at Olive Garden and Red Robin, that is NOT what this is. The food however was good, different, but good. You do a fair amount of eating with your hands (as they did back then) and your plate is a "trencher" or flat piece of bread, literally can eat the plate when you are done haha. Some of the other ceramic dishes were made by their resident potter. The drinks are mostly ale, mead (was very good!), wine, and I believe they had a couple ciders both hard and not. Everything is named oddly because again... 14th century. The desserts were not to my liking but I am quite the picky eater. The gentleman who was at the gate is your "Inn Keeper" and plays music on a lute and sings. I would not say he is a professional but it was enjoyable either way. This whole experience was nice but I feel would have been better with more people in the restaurant. Our group was the only people and I feel like we were missing the chattering background noise to give the nice atmosphere. Now.. the meal was rather pricey in my opinion but honestly you're mostly paying for the experience and atmosphere. Assume about $45 per person (including 1 drink and 1 dessert each).I wrote a review for the village as well and mostly copy and pasted what I said about the restaurant here because.. efficient. haha

The food was good, and the overall experience was entertaining. It was a little odd being the only ones there, but our host was great. Recommend bringing a larger group, but don't be afraid to come with two or three :)
