“Our family recently visited Alveare Winery, located in Carnation, Washington, just 35 minutes away from Seattle. We went there to celebrate Mother's Day and had a great time. Alveare Winery is a family-owned property boasting stunningly landscaped grounds. The name Alveare, which means beehive in Latin, is inspired by one of the owners' passions for beekeeping. We enjoyed the visit so much that we plan to come back often.
Alveare Winery produces high-quality wines using traditional techniques. It partners with high-elevation vineyards for unique and complex flavors. Its wines reflect the terroir of the Pacific Northwest and offer reds, whites, and rosés. Visitors can enjoy a wine tasting or purchase wine directly from the winery. The winery takes pride in its Bordeaux-style wines, such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, and Syrah.
Their Cabernet Franc has won numerous awards, and we particularly enjoyed it during our wine tasting. We enjoyed it so much that we bought several bottles and a four-pack of their Huckleberry Hard Cider. During our Mother's Day dinner, we opened the Cabernet Franc, which was fantastic with a steak dinner.
The winery has indoor and outdoor areas for visitors. It is children-friendly, with lots of room to run. Chalk is provided for children to draw on a designated area on the concrete. The grapes come from central Washington vineyards, but the juicing and wine-making all occur here on the Carnation property. At the winery, they also sell their delicious honey from their own beehives. Highly recommend a visit.”

“Morning treat after a run on the trail and before Berry picking. This Starbucks is off the beaten path and always a nice visit. The team forgot our vanilla in our London Fog Latte and kindly fixed it for us. Thx Carnstion Bux!”

“Most every weekend, all year, Camlann serves dinner at the Bors Hede Inn. And it's a NICE dinner, and entirely on the medieval theme. You get served on bread trenchers, don't get a fork, and it's mostly stuff you'd get in the original town of Camlann: a bread appetizer, a fruit & cheese & salad course, a choice of meat. If you want a fermented drink (wine or ale or hard cider), that's extra. Dessert is also extra. A guy with a lute sang a short song about every half hour. He's also the only guy I saw serving/taking orders. There's a cap on the number of people they can serve, but we went with a party of six and that was good.
AND OH MY GOSH THE BREAD WAS SUPER GOOD. Like, I took the leftover trencher home and planned a meal around leftover bread.
This is now on my list of things to do with guests as a fun outing. It's about $35 per person before fermented drink and dessert. It's cash or check only. Reservation required...you have to call their number and leave a message to get on their list, then they'll call you back. It's a weird way to set a reservation, but I guess that's how they did it in medieval times.”
“Perfect place to grab a cold beer on a warm summer afternoon and watch the world go by. My friend and I stopped here returning to Duvall from running errands in Fall City. The folks working here are super friendly and we enjoyed a Pils and an English Ale.”

“I always stop at Blake’s on my way through the valley. The grinders are top notch for lunch - pizzano or a Blake’s with jalapeños. I appreciate that the owners are working hard to preserve a valley institution - Blake’s feels like a well loved community spot when you walk in. Super kid-friendly and inviting.”

“Obsessed with their prawn papaya salad. Initially it might seem pricey, but once you get it and see how many prawns they put in plus the quality, size, and freshness of the prawns and the perfect texture of the papaya and cherry tomatoes, it is very fairly valued. I've ordered the BBQ sticky rice, pad thai, and mango sticky rice in the past and everything was always super flavorful. Flavors here are also a lot more intense, rich, and feel authentic to Southeast Asia more so than at comparable Thai restaurants on the East Side, which can sometimes feel a bit like Americanized Thai. Also love their premium thai tea!”

“Levant Café is a delightful, rustic French-Levantine-Turkish gem nestled in Issaquah’s historic Gilman Village, conveniently near I-90 for easy access.
This charming café, run by a lovely Syrian couple, exudes warm hospitality and a unique ambiance. The space features colorful couches, Turkish-inspired décor, high ceilings with skylights, an open kitchen, and cozy outdoor seating perfect for summer relaxation. It’s an ideal spot to unwind and soak in the lazy, tranquil vibes.
The menu is fully halal and offers a delightful mix of flavors. Their standout item is the Savory Shawarma Crepes, a fusion of French and Levantine cuisines.
Other options include:
French sweet Crepes
Middle Eastern Platters
Healthy Smoothies
Turkish Coffee
Baklava and Turkish Delights
Each season brings its charm here—whether it’s basking in the sun during summer or enjoying cozy vibes in winter and spring.
What I tried:
Falafel Crepe: Absolutely delicious!
Beef Crepe: Tasty but slightly dry.
Nutella Crepe: Classic and satisfying.
Green Juice: Healthy and refreshing.
Prices are on the steeper side, which brings it to a 4-star experience for me. However, the serene ambiance and unique fusion menu make this a must-visit café that’s perfect for relaxing or catching up with friends. Don’t miss it!”
