“A hidden gem bringing big-city flavor to small-town Clarkston”
Sauté on 6th feels like something you’d expect to find in a downtown food district — not tucked quietly into 6th Street in Clarkston. It’s one of those rare finds where everything from the plating to the service feels intentional and elevated, yet it still keeps that approachable local charm.
The food was outstanding. I ordered an entrée with a perfectly cooked protein — tender, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The sides weren’t an afterthought either; each one complemented the dish rather than just filling space. You can tell the chef pays attention to flavor balance and texture, not just presentation. The sauces, especially, had depth and freshness that made every bite stand out.
Service was professional and warm at the same time — attentive without hovering. The staff know the menu inside and out and can actually recommend pairings that make sense. Drinks were well mixed and arrived quickly, and the pacing of the meal was smooth from start to finish.
The atmosphere ties it all together — modern yet relaxed, softly lit without feeling dark, and with just enough energy to make it perfect for both a date night or a dinner with family. You can feel the pride behind the operation — from the kitchen to the front of house.
If you’re anywhere near Clarkston and want a dining experience that feels a step above the rest, Sauté on 6th is the place. Easily one of the best restaurants in the valley — thoughtful food, excellent service, and a real sense of craftsmanship in every detail.

We took our visiting son here and had dinner downstairs near the bar. Most everything was great except my dinner. I love porkchops and I rarely order them because most places overcook them. Unfortunately this place was no exception. I thought paying over $30 for one porkchop they could prepare it correctly. It was overcooked, dry and somewhat tough. The waiter was nice and everyone liked him, but he never bothered to ask me about my meal after I started eating. He did come and ask right after we received our meals before we had a chance to taste them. Our son had the lamb chops, and the ladies had the scallops and all those were very good they said. I think it is a nice place and most should enjoy it, but I'm going to have to think about if I am willing to pay those prices to be possibly disappointed again.

We were there on a Thursday night when they had a crostini and martini special. The shrimp crostini was amazing. I could have licked my plate the white wine, lemon, garlic, basil sauce was so good. There's a main floor dining area and a downstairs. The downstairs has a great cellar-like, cozy atmosphere. Overall food was excellent, service was great and I would come back if ever in the area again. Seriously, the shrimp crostini is delicious.

Amazing brick atmosphere. The basement (they call it the first floor) has a cellar feel to it (definitely sit there). We diner on Thursday (Martini and crostini night) and the food was exceptional. The shrimp crostini was delicious! Pices of warm shrimp on a basil white cream sauce with tomatos. My wife had the fish special (exactly how one of the other pics looks) and I had the lamb chops. Both were exquisite...well prepared and very tasty. If I had one complaint it would be the noise. There's nothing soft on the walls so talking echos a lot (especially when its a boisterous table of 10 and half of them are from New Zealand). If we are ever back this was in ID, Saute on 6th is definitely on the list.

Sauté was great! Accommodated our large group of 14 adults/kids without difficulty. Excellent cocktails, food was delicious.
Great Dinner! Scallops and Lamb were wonderful! Service was ok. It wasn’t busy, I waited more than ten minutes with an empty plate and drink before waiter finally came back. We ordered a second drink and were sipping on those, only had been 45 minutes since we sat, and another waitress brought us our ticket without asking if we wanted anything else?!! Felt like we were being rushed out. There were still seats available downstairs and the upstairs dining was empty when we walked out. 🤷🏻♀️ Dinner was delicious though! Would have enjoyed another drink though. 🤷🏻♀️
Holy Smokes! WOW! Hands down the best meal we have ever had tonight. We were up on a quick trip and wanted to go out on a nice date since we had no kids. Chef Robert 👏 👏 👏 👏 the Focaccia Halibut was absolutely perfection in my mouth. Juicy and flavorful and just the right portion. My husband had the Surf & Turf Nee York and shrimp. The sauce was like heaven. We also had the Mushroom Fondue. I could drink it by the cup. Huckleberry margaritas were very generously poured and absolutely spot on. Finished the night with the Cheesecake covered in fresh pureed peach and fresh garden picked Raspberries. I will drive 6 hours anytime just to eat here again. Our Waitress was one of his sons girlfriends and was so on top of it. Thank you all so much for a wonderful dining experience. We will be back.

Just…wow. WOW. Hard to believe a Chef of this quality is right here in the LC Valley but it’s true. Not only that, but the atmosphere and service is 5-star too. Our table ordered appetizers, cocktails, entrees, and desserts and every bite (and sip) was first class. Highly recommend the shrimp crostini appetizer, btw. Lamb and steak entrees were both a perfect medium rare. Those of us who ordered pasta dishes were extremely impressed too. Impeccable service. Lovely space. Beautiful presentation. Absolutely on-par with any fine dining experience we’ve had anywhere in the country. Kudos to the owners and staff.

This restaurant is in the town cities of Lewiston/Clarkston on the Idaho Washington border. It is actually in downtown Clarkston in a 100+ year old building. It has been beautifully restored. The food preparation was exceptional. They accommodated my wife's lactose intolerance perfectly. Her rib lamb shops had a wonderful sauce, the risotto was dairy free, the vegetable was fresh. I chose the halibut, primarily because of an interesting sauce. I was not disappointed. The wait staff was also excellent. Our waitress prepared excellent cocktails for each of us, checked back to make sure we were satisfied, took my dessert order and coffee for both of us. This is the best restaurant in the quad city area of Lewiston, Clarkston, Pullman, Moscow area of the Palouse agrecultural area of Washington/Idaho. Yes, the price is high, but not as high as a similar experience in the larger metro areas of the Pacific Northwest.
Good food. Good service. Downstairs restaurant has a nice quiet vibe with a small bar. Tables, lighting, & setup make for an intimate atmosphere.
The focus is on food quality & not portion size. Halibut (daily special) was great. NY Strip steak was a good cut & cooked perfectly.
Glenlivet Nadurra was a great tip shelf scotch option.
Definitely 5/5 experience & will be back
Best restaurant in town, hands down. Food is next level.
