So I rolled into town on a Wednesday afternoon after spending 6 days off-grid on the Idaho BDR and I was hungry, thirsty and tired. I had never been to Colfax before and I was hoping to find a good home town diner. I passed the Top Notch Cafe and pulled a U-turn and went back, and glad I did. The people working in the cafe were very nice and and got me water and soda right away, and the bacon cheese burger and fries I ordered were excellent. I had great conversations with the cook and the hostess as well as the people in the booths around me. So if you are passing through and looking for a great place to grab a bite to eat and meet great people, stop off at the Top Notch Cafe in Colfax, Wa, you will be glad you did. Also, just to show you the kind of people that frequent the Top Notch Cafe, when I went to leave, I found out that the group I was talking to had paid my bill! So if you are looking for great food and great people to hang with during your lunch, the Top Notch Cafe is hard to beat....Cheers!...Norden 901

Food was excellent, nice portion for the price. The place was full when we arrived. We took a seat at the counter since all the tables were full. It took a bit before anyone greeted us or brought us water and to take the order. We were able to move to a table. Once the place slowed down, the two people were more friendly with the customers. Many locals just drop by to say hi. Could us a bit of a deep clean to spruce it up, but all the food was cooked well.

Delightful staff! Service with a smile at 6:30 am and cheery moods all around. The food was fresh and prepared in a very timely manner. ?

Biscuits and gravy were awful. So full of salt, the gravy was a grey/brown color. Hash browns were good. Corned beef plate hardly had any corned beef, mostly hash browns. I was very disappointed. People were nice. Food not something I’d write home about sadly.

Nice little cafe that is very popular with the locals. Biscuit Breakfast is great! Fresh biscuits slathered in a tasty country gravy. Served with sausage and eggs. Delicious! The strawberry milkshake was tasty - made with fresh fruit.Great service, reasonable prices.

Great burgers husband and I had the western burger and was fantastic. I was able to get mine in a lettuce wrap without a problem. Great service. When driving through I highly recommend the stop.

I still think that Top Notch is the best burger joint in Colfax. Friendly, reasonably priced, and homey.

We were here around 9:30 on a Friday morning. It was about 50% full & we saw 3 employees. There are several booths and a row of seats at the bar. Pretty small Cafe but the space is well used. The service was great, I got my cup of coffee right away and they were happy to give me a little milk for it rather than the usual creamer. It was probably the best restaurant coffee I've had, not watery or burnt. Just coffee. They topped me off at comfortable intervals.I ordered the 2 egg breakfast, eggs over medium, hash browns extra crispy and sausage links. It took a while to get our food, but it was all cooked perfectly. Over medium eggs are not easy to get right. Just ask all the other restaurants I've been to ? the Hash browns were crispy without being burnt or soggy in the middle. The links were a little extra crispy too, which I like but didn't ask for. The toast looked good, but I gave that away as I can't eat bread. My friend had the French toast and he loved it. It was not the fluffy, bready kind, it looked like my French toast when I make it at home. The price was more than reasonable, in fact they should probably add $1 to everything. I know right now it's costing them more.Good food, service, prices and & a clean Cafe.
