I will be honest - it wasn't my idea to go there. I'm not overly fond of bars of any kind. And didn't want to drive 30 minutes out of our way to go there. I don't know why we did. That's beside the point.
The place is nothing spectacular on the outside. The inside is typical bar, but the pictures on the walls of Mr. St. Helens were cool, as were a few other decorations.
The place was not packed, it was a mid-afternoon lunch on a Saturday for us. It was busy enough, for sure. The service was slow, and the waitress was not attentive after we received our food.
The food we had was good. They had some interesting looking cuts of french fries. Unique. My friend liked them. I had onion rings and a bacon grilled cheese sandwich. I wasn't really in the mood for burgers and such.
It was an ok place to eat. I wouldn't drive out of my way to go there.

Offers liquor and canned beers. $9 space dust pint. Standard bar pizza, heavy on the cheese. Volcano burger was an excellent greasy burger with tons of jalapenos!
Has a small bar with 4-5 seats, as many tables and outdoor seating.

Came to enjoy the dinner special. Smoked brisket, smoked bacon Mac and cheese and smoked peach cobbler for dessert. Food was fantastic and surpassed expectation! Waitstaff and bar staff were fantastic! It was only the waitresses second day and the bar staff sarah was amazing assisting her, running food and managing the bar. Experience was top notch. Can’t wait to see what the next amazing special is! Worth the drive and we got to visit friends in the area while we were at it.

The first time we came here, I was pretty blown away by how good the food was BUT we'd just been doing some pretty intense hiking so anything probably would have been great. Just returned a year later not exhausted and the burger was even more delicious. I highly recommend stopping by if you're in Cougar. Great service, too!
