I’ve been running around the island trying to find the best bakery for a croissant, and this place wins by a country mile. The chocolate croissant may be the best I’ve ever had. The layering is just perfect, not too hard not too soft.

I was excited to try this box of desserts, but unfortunately it didn’t quite meet my expectations. The carrot cake was on the dry side and I missed the usual moist texture and warm spices like cinnamon that typically make it stand out. The croissant also wasn’t as fresh and flaky as I had hoped. The highlight for me was definitely the brownie, which had good flavor and texture.
Since I arrived right at closing time, I didn’t see any napkins or a disposable spoon available, which made enjoying the desserts a bit inconvenient. Another thing I found uncomfortable was being prompted on the payment screen to leave a tip, even though the order was simply packed to-go. For $16 for three pastries, I expected a more flavorful and polished experience overall.

Sara and the bakers at Little Red Hen were able to complete our vision of having a croquembouche at our Whidbey wedding! It wasn't something they normally do but they did a small trial for us and incorporated our feedback in the final version and it was perfect! The baker even added flowers in our wedding colors. Oh and their baked goods at the shop are great too!

I wish I could give this more than five stars. We went for the first time yesterday and got a large assortment of things. The meat pies were flaky and perfectly savory. The sweet danish was hands-down the best danish I've had in my life. The staff was friendly and efficient. I don't think I can ever eat another danish if it is not from Little Red Hen. I am thoroughly spoiled now.

The bathroom. When I asked the friendly service person where the bathroom was…she hesitated. Then we used the bathroom and it was beyond filthy. The employees share this sane bathroom (there are multiple employee signs) and the staff/owners should be ashamed they keep the bathroom this dirty. We had bought pastries prior to using the bathroom and afterwards we gave out pastries to the crows. Lost appetite. One star for food because the employees who make the food use the filthy bathroom.
Their baked goods won't disappoint. Bread, pastries, cookies, double thumbs up. Slightly slow service and there's almost always a wait. Go earlier in the day to get what you want because they do run out of goodies pretty quickly. It's that good!

Above and beyond delicious food and outstanding service. It looks like you walk straight into the bakery but the counter is to the right. They also have candied bacon.
Tiny little bakery with delicious food. Beef and potato handpie was hot and very tasty. Cardamom bun was so flaky and buttery. Definitely recommend both things. Upstairs is the Oystercatcher restaurant
