Athens Pizza & Pasta

I wanted to rate this place higher and support small businesses and the variety of food options but they need to step it up. It started with poor communication when I placed my order in person and unfortunately went downhill after. I ordered a gyros with chips and a Coke and received the Gyros dinner which I clearly didn’t order. Nonetheless I let them know about the discrepancy after paying nearly double for just a gyros, chips and a coke. The gyros unfortunately wasn’t good either.

Food was poor. The lasagna tasted like it came from a chef boyardee can. Bread was burnt. Lamb in the gyro was not cool. Someone from the kitchen came out and got on a facetime call, which we heard from 2 tables away. Avoid this place.

Excellent lunch special, 1/2 grinder with soup or salad for $9.95. Great classic mediterranean dishes. Great pizza. I've been coming here for easily 15 years and it's consistently great.

The food is excellent and the service is fast. The people are so nice. Eric was our server and he was awesome! We have been here before and will always come back.

Athens Pizza in Auburn is a true local gem. This family-owned restaurant has been around for years, and it’s easy to see why they’ve stood the test of time. Been coming to this greek and italian inspired restaurant for lunch and dinner for awhile now. The food is delicious, reasonably priced and the people here are always friendly. Chicken parm, cannelloni and moussaka are some faves, italian and greek entrees come with garlic bread and/or greek salad which is a plus. Pizza is fantastic and their grinder subs are great for lunch!

I love the food and prices are not to expensive.

Great pizza! Two of us got personals and two of us got 10 inch pizzas and we were all super satisfied. A personal size was exactly what I needed. The sauce is super tasty! I'd come back for sure.

We have been coming here for many years. We enjoy dining in but sometimes we take pizza to go. The restaurant is not fancy but their food is spectacular! Whenever we dined in there are at least six other tables filled with customers. There is also a constant flow of customers picking up their pizza to go. The pizza crust is not to thick and not to thin. For us it's just right. The pizza sauce is flavorful made with savory spices which makes a great foundation for the pizza. Over time we have our own special order. We get 14 inch Athens which has salami, sausage, green peppers, onions, pepperoni, mushrooms and cheese. We get this minus green peppers and mushrooms and sub roasted garlic and jalapenos. That was our order tonight and our grandson ordered his own 10 inch pizza with alfredo sauce, chicken, sausage, beef and extra cheese. I had a piece of this and it was fabulous. Don't miss your chance to get some world class pizza right here in Des Moines.

1st time here & bought the Athens pizza....yummy! Took it back to share with my elderly Mom & it was still hot. She kept raving about it too. Will definately make it 1 of the places we buy from once a week. Thank you for great quality.

The grinders are incredible. The Greek salad is my favorite. The portions are generous. I love this place.
