One of the main reasons that I was convinced to come to orcas Island was for the natural beauty and all the other natural wonderments but for me as a 70-year-old man that requires good coffee in the morning brown bear baking was in my crosshairs and I was very excited to visit. UNFORTUNATELY THE DAMN PLACE WAS CLOSED AND THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY SIGNAGE WHATSOEVER ANYWHERE NOTING THIS. PERHAPS CHECK YOUR WEBSITE? After hundreds of visits, I have determined that this may be the greatest bakery on earth. Everything is fantastic, but my personal favorite is the apple sage scone. Best I’ve ever had.

Brown Bear is always my 1st stop when I come stay in Eastsound, Orcas Island. It sets the tone for my stay because of its warm, cozy, friendly vibe and delicious pastries, quiche, and desserts!

This was the first place we stopped in town on a cool Sunday morning. There was a line out the door, but it moved quickly and the food was well worth the wait.

We had a spinach-feta croissant, which was flaky and delicious; a pecan sticky bun, that was exquisite; and a double chocolate muffin, which was moist and scrumptious.

The service was pleasant and efficient, and the opportunity to watch the bakers while we waited was really inspiring.

This is definitely a place we'll return to.

My girlfriend and I visited Brown Bear all three days of our trip. The quiches were fluffy, delicious, and savory. We also indulged in the Pain au Chocolate, Crossaint Peche, and an almond Bear Paw. Each was equally delicious. Each morning, we were met by the owner, who was friendly and provided a welcoming atmosphere. We would absolutely be back next time we are on the island!

Everything was wonderful, we had the veggie quiche, croque monsieur, and croissant peche as well as a latte and Americano. Definitely a must visit when you’re on Orcas Island.

Excellent baked goods… so many WOW items we had to try several over the weekend! Definitely recommend this place. Be prepared for longer lines and a wait (it’s worth the wait, don’t let that detour you!). I recommend a second register to line bust!

I had an almond cream filled bear paw and it was the most delicious croissant I have ever had. The best place for breakfast in Orcas.

Best veggie quiche I ever had! And I'm not a huge fan of quiches, so this was something really special. It was so light, creamy, and flavorful!
