“Easily the best coffee on the island—and I don’t say that lightly. My coffee was so good that future me was already sad knowing I’d eventually finish it. It was so good, I ended up coming back the next day 😅

The cafe itself is cozy, with a warm interior that makes you want to linger. There’s a generous amount of seating both indoors and outdoors, and even on a weekend my friend and I had no trouble finding a spot.

Perfect for slow mornings, catching up with friends, or just stopping by for a great cup of coffee. I’ll definitely be back!! ☕️”

“I thought the pulled pork was super good! And I’ll go back for the mac n cheese any time - yum! My husband is a fan of their brisket and he even he had enough to have left overs for breakfast too. Yikes Matthew! Next time we’ll branch out with other menu items, though it’ll be difficult to leave such good ones in the kitchen! My only problem is we don’t get to Orcas often enough to enjoy this tasty place!”

“Pro Life Tip: when you see a line coming out the front door of a business - GET IN LINE! I was in Eastshore (from Nebraska) to purchase some coffee roasters from a local seller. I had some time to kill before my ferry back to the mainland left, so was walking around the cool downtown of Eastshore. My attention was drawn to a line of humanity spilling out the front door of one business and out onto the sidewalk. A quick Google told me it was a bakery and so I did the most sensible thing and JOINED THE LINE. When I got inside I was delighted to see Kouign Amann at the front of the pastry case. I had only recently learned of this demanding, difficult to make pastry and it was ALL I WANTED. A short wait later one was in my bag/Crumb Catcher! Here it is a week and a half later and i’m STILL THINKING ABOUT IT and writing this review. It was a-MAY-zing and I have little doubt that ANYTHING you choose will be just as memorable. These guys could probably FRANCHISE their knowledge & processes in places like Aspen, Park City, Jackson Hole, etc. - but then again, maybe not. Maybe you need the passion of two classically trained pastry chefs, in their own little wonderful corner of the world (Orcas Island, WA). In any event, if you find yourself on the island, you MUST make Brown Bear Bakery a stop. You will NOT regret it. How ANYONE could give this place ANYTHING less than 5 FULL STARS boggles the imagination.”

“Glad to find a quality food truck on the island. My burrito was packed full of delicious ingredients and the shell was lightly crisped to perfection. Came with side fixins and tasty sauce. Excellent value, friendly staff, and clean operation.”

“Our family was thrilled with the food, service and lovely atmosphere. The menu is well appointed with selections. We enjoyed the octopus and wagyu meatballs for appys. Mains were a variety of pizza, pork shank (sublime!) and a pasta. The tiramisu finished the meal and should not be passed up. The wine list is well curated, we enjoyed a bottle of Bea from 2016. Phillip and Erin (the owners) were onsite and are deeply committed to providing orcas residents and visitors with a special dining spot. The adjacent shop on site has some great delicacies and baked goods too. We will be back!”

“Island Hoppin Brewery blew me away! The setup inside isn't huge but the space that is available is smartly decorated and leveraged well. The beers we tried were all great and I appreciated the amount of parking too. Also - it may have the nicest/cleanest bathroom I've ever seen in a similar brewery. A+!”

“Wonderful feel to the place. I'm 81, just moved on-Island. Wife asleep from COVID vaccine reaction. No food in the house (recently moved here). Had seen their ads about "best hamburger on Orcas" and -- at 8:45p -- decided, "Why not?" Great decision. Absolutely cooked medium rare. Wonderful waitress -- very easy-going. Likely to become a regular dinner place for us. Highly recommend.”

“5 empty plates and we are very satisfied. We had the Ruben with onion rings-5 stars, we have fish and chips with french fries-5 stars, we had the crab salad, grapefruit, champagne salad-5 stars, and the crab sandwich-5 stars. Everyone loved their meal... margarita was good, Heineken was cold. And Prosecco was ice cold... Thanks James, for taking care of us today. Visiting from Texas!”

“I rented a pedal boat from these guys and had a blast out on the lake with my daughter. I've also enjoyed some delicious ice cream and snacks from the Sugar Shack. The staff was all super friendly and helpful, will definitely be back!”
