Wonderful feel to the place. I'm 81, just moved on-Island. Wife asleep from COVID vaccine reaction. No food in the house (recently moved here). Had seen their ads about "best hamburger on Orcas" and -- at 8:45p -- decided, "Why not?" Great decision. Absolutely cooked medium rare. Wonderful waitress -- very easy-going. Likely to become a regular dinner place for us. Highly recommend.
The ambience was amazing but please turn the jukebox back on! It was my favorite part
Is great place for a burger and a beer

The Lower Tavern is a local pub in the San Juan Islands, offering a welcoming atmosphere and a wide selection of beers. The establishment is known for its amazing burgers and top-notch fish and chips, providing a great value for honest food. The interior is clean, comfortable, and warm, with a friendly and welcoming staff. Customers praise the pub's great local energy and the wide selection of beers and wines. The Lower Tavern is a regular gathering place for the community, and the food, while not always exceptional, is generally good, with options for different dietary restrictions.
The pub is described as "chill" with burgers and chicken sandwiches that would "give any place in the country a run for their money." The outdoor seating is a bonus, and the service is friendly. One reviewer recommends the Southwest and Classic burgers, the Patty Melt, and the Buffalo chicken sandwich, as well as the prawn basket. The reviewer suggests skipping the fries to avoid an overly full stomach. The pub's ambiance is above a dive bar and below a modern brew pub, and the beers are said to be consistently good.
