I wholeheartedly regret eating here. The novelty of dining on an old train wore off as soon as we entered this establishment. 30 dollars for a plate of meatless (restraunt failed to add the italian sausage to this dish (irrelevant as the vegetarian/meatles variation of this plate is also 30 dollars)) spaghetti seemingly assembled from ingredients you could find at the gas station across the street for 1/6th the cost was disappointing, unfufilling and obviously overpriced. About the same could be said for the equally priced chicken fried steak we paid for which was slathered with gravy that likely contained all of the salt your body could process in a month and the accompanying 1/4 cup of plain steamed green beans from a can.
Lining the wndow panes within one side of the dining car are little printed newspaper clippings detailing rave reviews of this restraunt from the 90s. These are neat to look at while you eat - better slightly than the 'TRUMP' shipping container across the street that accounts for the view in the other direction - but the days of this place being a decent option for a hungry traveler are definitely in the past. If Scaleburgers across the street is open, eat there instead, otherwise just keep driving.. good luck!

Such a unique place! Huge portions worth the price! Would definitely go back again to try the pizza train.

The food is kind of okay, BUT: The amount of meat in the dishes is very small. Lots of fries or pasta but just a tiny amount of meat in the pasta and a McDonalds-worthy patty in the burger. The service is extremely slow, and that's at "less busy than usual" time. Pricey for the food they have. And the vile servers quietly charged an extra $5 in tips, which I discovered only in my credit card bill. Never again I'm going there.

3 stars for the vibe. Food is ok but I cannot justify the price ($30 burger with tax and tips). There was only one lady doing everything on busy Sat noon, so super slow in service, and we self-serviced on seating/water/check. Food came 40min after order placed.

Really good atmosphere and food. The server Ashley was so kind and gave amazing service with seeming like she was the only person there doing everything.

I can say with a certain degree of confidence that the only reason this place has not been put out of business is its stellar proximity to Mt Rainier National Park and the heady romanticism of eating in a old train car. We waited approximately 25 minutes for our drinks - three waters, a coffee, and a bottle of beer - during which time the young couple a table over fled the establishment after being thoroughly ignored by the brusque (if good natured) waitstaff. At the time I dismissed them as ‘quitters’ whose lack of patience robbed them of a small town dining experience. Alas, it was I who proved to be a fool. The food - all of it - was either reheated frozen food, or such a perfect recreation of frozen food that the top Tyson frozen chicken scientists should sue this place for copyright infringement. The chicken sandwich was flaccid and pale. The fries were soggy. The garlic bread was delicious (because I like oven baked frozen garlic bread). The ‘chicken fried steak’ was in fact a reasonably tasty Salisbury steak drenched in enough pepper to invite colonial invasion by the Dutch East India Company. These culinary sins could find redemption as a cheap mountain snack, if the food was 6-8 dollars. Alas, 25+ per entree. Hard pass, try somewhere else.

The prices are too high for the quality of the food. The fried chicken ranch sandwich ($20) has a heated up frozen chicken patty, and the fries tasted like they were cooked in burnt oil. The chicken fried steak ($26) was mediocre, with a Salisbury steak type of consistency and over-peppered gravy. The portobello fettuccine alfredo pasta was also mediocre ($26). The waitress didn't give us our drinks for 10+ minutes or check in on us the entire meal. I don't recommend stopping here for food.

Food was very well prepared but quite expensive.
Kid-friendliness: Waiters were very friendly with children as I noticed even with one who did not speak English. Good job!

Amazing place for being in the middle of nowhere. Everything seems to be homemade. And was awesome! I had the salmon fettuccine. The salmon was cooked so well, flaky but also had grill Mark's that those little bits tasted so good! The fettuccine sauce was so smooth and tasty! The boy got the Train Wreck burger, it was a messy sammich but he said it was excellent! I know he didn't leave any of it. His fries were good too, I had one. Not quite a steak fry but again, looks like they slice up the potato there. Huckleberry lemonade. I thought huckleberry was just a cartoon fruit. It makes a great lemonade. We finished with home made desserts, the boy got apple pie, I got the lemon poppyseed cake. With ice cream. Don't bother with the ice cream, unless you just like some of the best vanilla ice cream I've ever tasted. My cake was moist, and for once the lemon wasn't overpowering like at most restaurants. The boy got the apple pie, and I even got a bite. The apple wasn't too crisp like it wasn't cooked enough, or too mush like it had been overcooked. Cool little dining car set-up in the place, BUT, be patient. They don't have a lot of staff, but it is so worth it. We were really taken care of very well.

1. Staff is very book keeping types. We had 7mintes to board train and I was denied of ticket. So pls be 30min in advance to pur hase ticket.
2. No picnic table anywhere near Railroad to eat food.
3. Atmosphere is great only if you admire the situational crowd.
