knowing full well that lunch service was implemented only a month ago, we were expecting some growing pains, but our disappointment was not with the service but with the food. at 12:15 on a tuesday, Ristorante Machiavelli had maybe 3 tables occupied. we were promptly and cheerfully greeted, seated, and presented with menus. the corner windows in the dining area brightened up the restaurant. the lunch menu is very abbreviated: mostly soups, salads, 3 sandwiches, and assorted pastas at very reasonable prices. the most expensive pasta plate was $13.00. we passed on the $6 macrina bakery bread service. toscano cup of soup $7: the soup had all the necessary ingredients such as sausage, greens, other assorted veggies, beans, but light on the cream, and extremely salty. now, i am a salt-head. my doctor hates me. i use both soy sauce and salt on my eggs. i felt my tongue burn from the salt in the soup. minestrone cup of soup $6: chunky veggies. lots of zucchini and carrots. seemed more like tomato-y veggie soup. pomodoro cup of soup $6: we did not order this but we wondered if this soup is intended to be a placeholder for the highly anticipated return of Chantrelle's famous tomato bisque ? we skipped the sandwiches and went straight for the pasta. spaghetti bolonese: very, very, light sauce consisting of bits of tomato and meat. it was not until we dug into the bottom of the plate of spaghetti, we discovered the rest of (the very light) sauce under the spaghetti that had not been tossed in the kitchen. if it were not for the meat bits, i would have mistaken this pasta plate for a puttanesca that was missing the olives, anchovies, and capers. it was a nice, light sauce but not the robust red-sauce bolognese i'm used to. spinach ravioli: yum! i loved the plentiful mushroom sauce. i wish i had a piece of bread accompanying the plate to sop up the delicious sauce. luckily i still had the spoon from my cup of soup so i was able to spoon the sauce like a soup. there were 5 raviolis swimming in the sauce on my place. carbonara: not available for lunch. the pasta plates were small, even considering the lunch prices and the food looked naked and lonely on the plate. dessert seemed expensive. i would have guessed the service would have been the challenge at lunch, rather than the food. we left hungry. 3 stars for cheerful service.

Food is just fine. Portions are good for the price point. Very affordable and good for the price point. Nice place to just stop by if you’re in the area, would not go out of my way to tour the food here.

The filet and the Caesar are among the best I’ve had at any price point. Family owned, exceptional service. Delicious, old school carbonara. Very reasonable prices.Vegetarian options: Gnocchi Al Sugo, house salad and a couple great pesto options.Dietary restrictions: Great gluten free pasta option.Parking: Free parking next to Machiavelli inn b of a lot during dinner hour and weekends.

Got take out with my in laws and while the food was ready quickly it wasn’t very good. The fettuccine with prawns was flavorless and didn’t have much sauce. The veal dish was a very small portion that also lacked flavor. Overall it was pricey for mediocre food and small portion sizes.

Delicious! A great addition to Edmonds! Wonderful takes on Italian classics. The staff was so nice ad fun. Will be back soon.

On entering, one can't help but notice just how incredibly loud this restaurant is. There is nothing to buffer the sound. It bounces off the walls and floor. Second, the prices are outrageous, even if in line with the other establishments in the area. The food was barely edible. The chicken parmigiana was presented in a pool of water, excess from the tomato sauce. That should have been drained instead of allowing the breaded chicken to become soggy. The spaghetti bolognese was spiked with chile flakes, which made it inedible for me. Marinara diablo from southern Italy is spicy, not Bolognese from the north. Someone in the kitchen was attempting to appear impressive, but didn't know what they were doing. The Diplomatico was a poor version of standard tiramisu. Overall, this restaurant tries to impress, but misses the mark by a long shot. Won't recommend nor ever return.

Great vibe - we’ve been coming for 20+ years and are thrilled with the new Edmonds spot! Excellent food, staff and atmosphere. Thank you, Suzette (and Tracy) for being part of our family history!

I've been here 4 times since they opened and it's consistently super good!! I love the Caesar salad and the ambiance is pretty cozy and chill. I also love the chicken picatta. You do need to get here early, or expect a bit of a wait since they don't do reservations but it's not too hard to get in if you show up later. The staff has also been consistently attentive and kind.

We shared the toasted 3 cheese sandwich with 2 cups of tomato soup. Yummy!

It aches me to not give this place a stellar review but there are so many missed points with this edmonds location.I didn't get the inviting warm and cozy ambiance that I'm used to--warm and cozy it is not, sadly. The ambiance doesn't suit comfort food whatsoever.Moving on, the entire setup of the restaurant including the tableware is not in alignment with their original brand. They really missed an opportunity to be creative and unique with this larger space. It's not even close to the other edmonds establishments within their fine dining competitors. But ok, let's not be too picky at least the food will be divine, right?Nope! I have no idea what changed so drastically but the flavor and substance to their dishes has dwindled down to being uneventful, cold, boring, and plain as white bread. What a mess of a trasition from their original Capital Hill glory days. This place was known and distinguished for their Italian comfort food which I didn't experience, not in the food nor comfort while dining. The only good part was the staff who treated me so warmly but I showed much excitement to be dining there for a special dinner experience.Maybe they should have changed the name and started fully anew. They could still share their rich history and story on the menus.

My girlfriend and I were ambivalent about where we should go for a no-fuss dinner, and we were delighted to stumble through the door and land at the bar. Each member of the staff who interacted with us was warm and accommodating (but specifically looking at you, Kayleigh!) It was old-school italian comfort food from the caesar salad to the chicken parm. Dessert is a must with us, and we happily opted for the homemade cheesecake and lemon cream gelato. Even the espresso warmed our hearts. Wine and amaro flowed from a range of stubby wine glasses to antique coupes. In other words..Go for the food and service, stay for the glassware. Can't wait to go back!

I’m sorry but people griping about the small wine glasses. Really?! Then order a bottle!! People can be so fickle.Machiavelli is exactly what you want it to be; fabulously delicious Italian comfort food.Portions are GENEROUS. 6oz of wine is the same no matter the size of the glass…get over it people!!We had a such a lovely experience at the bar. Food was so tasty and every single person we encountered was there to create an amazing experience. Not sure what restaurant all these negative review people were eating at.Go here!!Thank you for a lovely night xx

I was soo looking forward to trying this place out- I'd been to the Cap Hill spot once and hyped it up to my husband for our night out. What an f-ing disappointment. Ordered as simple carbonara that was served cold with undercooked noodles. We sent it back with the same dissatisfaction (our hunch is that the dish was reheated). Legit, I've had better food at Olive Garden - and this is coming from a foodie. I was soo excited for this. What a bummer.

Food was good but passé. Much better than Olive Garden but that kind of Italian. Lasagne, spaghetti and meatballs, veal Marsala etc. everything tasted great but really old school. I know that's what a lot of folks want though, and if that is what you want. This is definitely the place to go. You won't be disappointed it is good.
