Tuna tataki and seaweed salad were great, garlic tonkotsu ramen was average. (Our usual go to spot Yua Ramen in Edmonds is slightly cheaper and way better for ramen, and wonderful customer service even when they’re busy). The restaurant was clean and had a nice atmosphere, overall we had an okay experience BUT the staff were cold and didn’t make us feel welcome, they didn’t check on us during our meal or refill water when we ran out. We were the only ones dining in so there’s no excuse for them to not be attentive. We spent $65 including a generous tip, but even if we only spent $10 we and all customers who are respectful deserve to feel welcome. Please be more kind to your customers. Bad customer service can make even the best food leave a bad taste.

This restaurant has plenty of seating and has inviting owners. We only tried the ramen which was flavorful and the pork belly was the star of the show. The broth is flavorful and filling. I was kind of surprised by the lack of vegetables though. Food comes out kind of slow but it is hot and fresh. Plenty of parking.

The cherry trees are falling and I missed them. I thought I would just go in and get some food. Instead encountered a delicious, fresh, affordable and beautiful veggie rice bowl and an eternally blooming cherry tree with very powerful, awe-inspiring Samarai pictures. Didn't feel so sad. Thanks for that J Ramen. At least there is one place I can go for cherry trees until the real ones come back. Didn't know about that veggie bowl dish before either, yum yum.
Locked during business hours, could not pick up doordash order. Knocked loudly for 10 minutes, they would not answer phone too. Waste of
Love the Ramen! The broth was light and savory. Noodles were chewy and perfect slurping texture.

Ramen is really tasty. Service is very slow since there is only 2 people working (cook/server).

We were either going here or to Botan and we had never been here. Walked in and were a tad worried at the emptiness and that no one greeted us for a few long moments. When we were seated I looked up some reviews and pictures and was not disappointed. Especially when the sushi and Tonkatsu arrived. Absolutely beautiful and more than delicious! As we ate more and more people showed up, maybe be here after 4? But owner said the busy times absolutely fluctuate. Must try!

This place gave me a nice warm welcome and the area they sat us was nice. I liked the food, it seemed fresh and well prepared and the caviar was delicious. I'd recommend this place if you are looking for a nice quiet dinner. The music isn't to loud and there's never to many people it seems.
I went to the location hoping to get some ramen at 6:45 pm on Sunday, and they were closed. Closed during their posted business hours, they are supposed to close at 8:30 pm Sunday. There was no explanation on the door. Definitely call ahead to see if they are doing their job or not. I'll change my review if they open during their business hours.
I used to really like these guys under the former ownership, but they just aren't as good anymore. You can't even rely on them to be open for the hours they are supposed to be. I don't know if they just decided not to open for lunch anymore, but maybe update the hours on the front door?Aside from that the food just isn't as tasty. The raman is pretty bland, the sushi rolls are just mediocre, and the service is lackluster. I watched two people come in and be seated, then wait for 10 minutes to have nobody came to ask them about drinks. Eventually they just left. The place was basically empty at the time.

stopped in while in town, does not have kids menu, and did not separate the plates for different people at the table. i want my roll in my area, not in the middle of the large table for others to reach over. ramen was not great either
The owners(?) are super friendly and welcoming. My bowl had plenty of noodles and the pork was perfectly tender. I'll absolutely be back.
Every time I visit J's I try something different and I like it even more than the last dish. I adore this hidden little gem!
My tempura was delicious. It would have been even better if there was grated daikon with the sauce. I had the ikura nigiri. It was saltier than normal and not as fresh. I'm Japanese from Hawaii so expectations are a little on the high side. The dragon roll and rainbow roll was ok. The ramen my kids orders which was a tonkotsu ramen lacked depth and flavor. They didn't like it. And my husband ordered the steak. He didn't like it. The teriyaki sauce drizzled over the steakover powered the steak completely. The dish looked gorgeous, but sauce was too much to handle. Other than that. I would definitely come back for the tempura.
They've definitely stepped up their game from a year ago. It used to be my lowest rated ramen spot because of the chashu but this time was top tier. They don't seem to season the egg at all anymore.. bummer. Great broth in the ramen and spectacular maki that day! Super fast service!
