Consistently the best latte I’ve had in Everett. Always on point.
Initial Impression in 3 words: Oh. My. Gosh!
This was my first time at Narrative Coffee and it exceeded my expectations in terms of artisanal coffee quality, technique, and taste.
Atmosphere: It was a relaxed yet very lively atmosphere when I walked in. There were groups of people from all walks of life in the seated areas. Study groups, couples, a few friends and family members. This was a Monday morning around 9:45AM. Personally, despite the audible volume, I feel I would be comfortable reading a book here - 5/5.
Staff: They were welcoming, friendly, and very accommodating when I told them it was my first time in their shop. I had narrowed my coffee selection down to three items and asked for recommendations between those three- and I was able to make a decision I was happy with in the end, based on the information I was given by the staff. I was also able to inquire about allergies (as I'm allergic to almonds) and was told they have an ingredients list for their items (except for the newer editions to the menu) - 5/5.
Coffee: I ordered the Lavender Mocha and it was presented on the counter, cap-off to the side with lovely latte art of a heart at the top of the drink for the customer's eyes to enjoy. The presentation was immaculate and the taste was incredible. As far as the coffee goes, I could tell from the taste and consistency of the crema that both the quality and the technique of the baristas was as good as it gets. The milk was frothed to perfection and there was just a hint of lavender and chocolate. The flavors were not overwhelming, thus allowing the established coffee drinker to still enjoy the high quality beans in tandem with a little something extra - 5/5 (if I could rate it any higher, I would).
Pastries: My impression of the following pastries:
-Orange cardamom tea cake (warmed): Moist with a delicate flavor, not heavy on the glaze, orange or cardamom, and went well with the coffee. I could see it also pairing well with tea - 4.8/5.
-Cherry tea cake (cooled): This cake itself was also very moist. The glaze was very rich, which leads me to believe it would be best paired with a lighter flavored drink or tea to contrast the richness of the glaze - 4.2/5.
-Chocolate cherry darling (cooled): The pastry was buttery and flaky with a hint of cinnamon-sugar, and the filling was robust in chocolate and cherry flavoring. Very rich, but well-balanced between the pastry and the filling. Would be good by itself or paired with a black coffee - 4.5/5.
Food: N/A - Didn't purchase any food from them at the time - (?)/5.
Merchandise available: On the south-facing wall near the entrance they sell a variety of blends of coffee, Ritual brand chocolate bars, some coffee supplies, and Narrative Coffee branded t-shirts & hats - (?)/5.
Restrooms: There are 2 single-occupancy unisex restrooms. They were nice, clean, and on the larger side- it seems it would be good for parents with small children, or those who use wheelchairs - 5/5.
Overall impression: A wonderful place to unwind in the morning with high-quality coffee and great pastries.
Excellent coffee with a rotating selection that includes Veloton and Manhattan Coffee Roasters. The atmosphere is great—cozy and inviting—and the baristas are knowledgeable and friendly. Pour-over coffee runs about $8, which is on the pricier side, but worth it for the quality. The scratch kitchen offers very good food, and the lattes are outstanding. This spot serves the best breakfast in the region for a coffee shop. It can get busy, especially on weekdays, given its proximity to the courthouse and nearby businesses.
I went in the afternoon. Good selection of pastries as well as sandwiches on a menu. Selection of specialty coffees to try. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Really great cappuccinos and the food was super delicious also.
Great atmosphere and food. Friendly hosts/staff. Welcoming!
Stopped in while on a motorcycle trip from Calgary Alberta.
Grabbed a couple breakfast sandwiches and a latte.
Friendly staff. Cool location. Good food. Good coffee.
Definitely worth the stop!
Motorcycle friendly parking on the street nearby.
The coffee is always so good and the service is always so nice, this place is really top tier for spots in the area!
Kind server. Didn’t get any drinks but their bread and parfait were delicious 🤤
Love their coffee and food! Atmosphere is not the best. Very liberal vibes. Not very family friendly. Usually very busy and often times you have to stand and watch for a spot to open up.

If you like pour over, it is a must!! I stopped by on my way to Canada, and definitely a worth visit!!
They also carry Manhattan Roasters (European)
The atmosphere and service are what make this place great! I know this is an unpopular opinion, but…
Honestly, the food I had was not great. I had the biscuit breakfast sandwich with bacon and I’m so glad I got the bacon on it. The whole thing lacked salt and pepper. It needs some kind of sauce or … flavor. I’m glad I got the bacon because that was the only essence of flavor I tasted. Somehow the rest tasted like old fry oil? Who knows!
But the cookie is one I feel like I could get at Costco.
The iced coffee was bitter even with a bit of cream.
The brownie was good though! Sweet and not too dry. It was a just fine brownie!
Really great bakery and coffee house. I had the eggs Benedict with jasmine green tea. The tea was perfect, and the biscuit in the Benedict was the best biscuit I have ever had. So light and fluffy it was unreal. Highly recommend and I'll be going back very soon.
The pistachio bread is delicious. Cappuccino is perfect.
Paid over $15 for a roll with one slice of pachotto , barely any cheese and a tiny arugula. Don’t waste your hard earned money.
