Great place, close to home!
I should’ve looked at the reviews before going in. I can get past a place that doesn’t look the nicest because some places don’t look the best, but have the best food in my past experience, but this place looks dirty, smells inside, and I ended up receiving horrible service. We waited over 20 mins for our take out order and there were no other orders ahead. We got a beef teriyaki, chicken katsu, & a special they had a combo with chicken teriyaki sushi and shrimp. We drove home after getting our food.
Well when I gave my toddler a few bites of rice my husband had just eaten some of his and noticed it tasted and smelled off. He told me to hold off on feeding her more. I smelled it and instantly was upset because the rice was definitely 1000% spoiled. Not only smelly, but was mushy and had a mush texture to it which indicates that it’s bad. I’m half Asian and I have eaten rice all my life. I was so upset because my toddler is of high risk for a food borne illness at this age. I smelled the meat and it smelled spoiled as well, nothing seemed ok to eat except the deep fried stuff which was the shrimp. I was so upset because we spent $50 here. I took the food back just how it was minutes after noticing. I drove back within 20 mins of leaving the place with my family. I brought the food back as is with just a few bites and the lady instantly became defensive and started going off in her language. I told her the rice smelled horrible and I that I “just wanted my money back please.” And she refused to acknowledge my complaint refused to give me my money back. She stormed off in the back and grabbed her rice spoon telling me it to smell it, I told her I wasn’t interested in arguing and wanted my money back. Well that didn’t happen so I told her if she didn’t want to give me my refund back for her rotten food that it was what it was and walked off and drove home. I’m reporting them to the health department, please to not eat here. Also their food healthy rating on the front door is “okay” the lowest you could continue running a food establishment with. I’m pretty upset and now have major trust issues with teriyaki something that’s never happened to me before.

This is what a teriyaki joint should be. Simple, cheap, quick, delicious. When I call in, I don’t need a conversation, take my order, hang up. Love this. Portions are not huge, but the price reflects it. It’s a perfect lunch amount and plenty of sauce. Will continue to support Yamato

I enjoyed visiting! The first day I visited they ran out of chicken, so I returned 2 days later and they treated me the same way as the first day: eager to assist. They had a smile and the food portions were like any other place I’d been to. I felt like this teriyaki location had authenticity with a genuine interest in making quality food.
I noticed another reviewed mentioned the burned pieces of the teriyaki: I’ve eaten teriyaki for over 20yrs and it is normal for me to see bits of charred chicken. When I don’t see it, I question the authenticity of what I eating.
Great first impression and I can’t wait to return to use my punchcard again. Thank you!

I've had better Teriyaki with the same price i paid here i legit think this is the WORST teriyaki place to ever order...this place is a huge disappointment... the teriyaki is little tiny pieces of burnt chicken and barely full my plate looked practically empty and only gave me 1 thing of rice/ salad 🚩👎 the people raging about how this place is good I'd like to know who paid you? 🤡 because it's absolutely not trust me....
do not be fooled people avoid this place at all cost save ur money go somewhere else. Even panda express is way better than this place and thats sad since it's not authentic.
This the type of place Gordon Ramsey would have to visit to teach the restaurant not to be so stingy and to cook better

Food was cold at the bottom rice was luke warm it was clearly sliced out of the fridge and warmed in the microwave. Flavor was sub par, char was on point, spice level was absent. I asked for water she pointed to the fridge knowing they had free water on the side in a container. Music was awful. Service was mediocre. I would not recommend this place.

We got the chicken teriyaki dinner meal , the chicken is amazing; a good quality and the teriyaki sauce was excellent; it wasn't too thick but has the right amount of sweet & salty taste, the sticky rice was perfect and the salad & dressing was good as well. The owners are a older couple who are very nice with great energy.. We will be going there more often now that we know about this place plus to support a amazing couple like that in our community.

This is the best teriyaki in pierce county. The older woman and man that work there are very patient and their teriyaki chicken is a very nice portion with plenty of rice, and their sauce is excellent very flavorful... it's always very clean ... I've never had a bad experience. I try to eat there at least 1 time a week. I dine in and take out, but mainly dine in.

Smallest portions I have ever had. Barely a handful of chicken. Would never go back.

Small portions, lady was very rude hung up before I finished talking. Food has no flavor. Never going here again. Will tell everyone I know, what experience I've had here.
This is probably the best teriyaki. The chicken is so tender and they don’t burn it but it has the perfect grilled char yet the meat is still tender! The sauce is also so nice it has depths and the flavor is very delicate nothing heavy and it isn’t too thick. Finally the price is still $10 for a plate of chicken; Incredible!

Very Small and disproportionate portions, not much flavor and everything tasted like mayo because they put the salad in with the hot meat so when I get home its just warm lettuce and the dressing covers everything making it all taste like mayonnaise. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else for your teriyaki needs.
