Amazing cafe with a great purpose, will return often
Wow, great bakery, coffee, pleasant environment inside and outside (depending on the weather). Both the sweet things and the bread are excellent and prices are reasonable.
Loved the pastries we got when they opened at 7 am -- still warm, and a delicious variety available. This bakery was wonderful-- perfect for a pre ferry ride stop.
My boyfriend and I popped in for an afternoon pick-me-up after exploring the harbor a little bit. Honest to goodness it was the best decision we made the whole trip. Best ham and cheese croissant we've ever had and it was fresh out of the oven. The coffee was also excellent, and the staff was SO FRIENDLY and so helpful. We swore that we'd come back to visit if only to come back to Cafe Demeter! If you are looking for a wonderful place to stop and grab a bite and a buzz, this place is IT!
We stopped for coffee before a bike ride and also had bacon quiche. Both were excellent. Probably the best coffee that I have had all week.
What a wonderful place! We ordered 75 bagels for a post-wedding breakfast and they were fabulous!! The owner and staff were great to work with! Thanks again for making those delicious bagels for us!!
Delicious and varied breakfast options. We ended up coming here 2 days in a row it was that good. There wasn’t anything my friend and I tried that we didn’t like. They have various baked goods, quiches and sandwiches. Food items can be heated up. I liked that they had several non-coffee drink options along with all the regular coffee stuff. Both the chai latte and turmeric latte were good. Loved the almond croissant and quiche. The biscotti is slightly softer than at other places, which I found I preferred(you’re not going to break a tooth trying to chew it).Counter serve (you order and pickup at counter) with quick service. Bus your own table. Friendly staff. They have a few tables inside and some outside too. Also, they donate proceeds from specific baked goods to rotating nonprofits (they’ll have signs up with the current specified food item and nonprofit beneficiary).
Awaiting the ferry this past Tuesday morning, I ordered a croissant, blueberry muffin and two coffee's to go. The waitstaff was genial and helpful, managing to get me the last, quite tasty muffin. When we opened the bag for the croissant fifteen minutes later, the thing was hard as a rock. This was, at the least, one day old. Perhaps two? I didn't want to rush back from the ferry and also hate to hassle with people seeming to do a fine job. My problem amplified when I texted the Cafe and had no response. Could they possibly have served be a tooth cracking' croissant knowing I'd soon be on the ferry? I'd surely hate to think so, but next time in Friday Harbor, you owe me one. But only if fresh...
Excellent quiche and very nice latte. Everything looked delicious
There was not that many people in the place when we arrived. The people that arrived when we did got their food and left before we were seved. After a while the waitress came and asked what we ordered. Then 30 minutes later we received our food. When we told the waitress we were with a group and the food would be paid by them she said oh great. So.... there's a cute place around the corner with coffee and yummy pastries. Go there.
Restaurantji Recommends
We stopped by for a quick lunch and ended up having a wonderful coffee break with very sticky sweet rolls and a turkey sandwich on croissant, as they were unfortunately out of regular styles of bread. I recommend getting there early when you want something specific, or just showing up anytime they are open. If our lunch was any indication, everything they make is high quality. Turns out they were fairly inexpensive compared to other island cafes on Lopez and Orcas. The baristas and other staff helped make sure our experience was what we wanted and were super nice as well.
The best bakery I have EVER been to. Every thing was amazing, the service was quick, courteous, and friendly. The only problem you’ll have is limiting yourself.
Excellent pastries. We tried the carrot muffins, a couple of the kiches, the cinnamon buns, and the almond cake. We did not like the bagels. They were very small and too chewy. The coffee and tea is very good. We specially like the green tea with lemongrass.
Tasty almond cake and perfect latte on lazy thursday with patio seating
All-time favorite café on the island! You can’t go wrong with any of their baked goods, and at a great price. We always order their chocolate pecan pie for thanksgiving. So good!
